"Dollar short and a minute late" would be a great title for a book I'm writing. Its an autobiography. But seriously, I was listening to Dave Ramsey on the radio this morning and he said those coinbits are just a scam. It's just imaginary money!

@@matthewhale8086 We all must choose our path. To go with The Dave Ramsey approach, or the Robert Kiosaki approach. Money is worth saving, or money is worth less than nothing. To stay completely out of debt, or to go deeper into it in order to buy more real estate. Both paths are viable imo! 🙌

I violated the Geneva Convention several thousand times in Viet Nam. Never saw anyone that told me not to! They must have been back in Geneva figuring out how to scam money from various AID programs
@MCStoneDojo9 ай бұрын
As I stated- “you might have to do what you might have to do, so I’m not going to say “don’t engage them” ;) Vietnam vets are salt of the earth. Felt the same way about Afghanistan too.. I did some further research, and I guess it’s not technically against the Geneva convention, just an issue with proportionality. They lied to us! Haha what else is new? Thanks for your comment, and service.. and honesty 😂

To the muppet making this video, It is NOT against the Geneva convention to shoot a human target with an M2 or any .50 cal. Stop. I don’t know where you’re finding trash information but it’s wrong. The only thing you got right is that the round passing close by will not tear a limb off. That’s literally the only correct thing you said in this entire video.
@lukycharms997010 ай бұрын
The amount of absolute brain dead nonsense about it being against the Geneva convention to directly shoot a human with an M2 is scary levels of stupid. You can absolutely 100% beyond any shadow of a doubt shoot an unarmored enemy with a 50 cal…… I can’t believe the ignorance being spewed in these comments and by this video. Omfg……

.50 is categorized as an anti material rifle. This means you can legally, according to the Genova Convention, use it against armor vehicles, transport vehicles, aircraft, equipment, etc... so if an enemy combatant if carrying magazines, explosives, or radios, its not your fault if you hit the person carrying said equipment trying to diable the equipment
@FPPS.459 ай бұрын
Not true, you can shoot anything with a 50, its a Heavy Machine Gun not a Antimaterial Rifle, I taught the Class for the M2 .50 as a Army SAMG Instructor and somebody would say this every class we taught, we had to "unteach" this and all the other basic training myths uninformed Drills put out. Read FM 23-65, anyhting thats not in there is not true about the M2.

Bad gun? Audy Murphy and Dakota Myers. would disagree. As long as the heads pace and timing are set correctly, so that they reliably cycle, they are very good. If the gun is bad, it's more likely the gunner. Otherwise, the 2 people I mentioned wouldn't have been using the same platform. WW2 to Afghanistan on those two events. And this is being written 22 yrs after the last. That platform is still in use and not likely going anywhere.
@MCStoneDojo10 ай бұрын
I never said “bad” I said “not very good” I have experience on the system it’s finicky and a pain.
@MCStoneDojo10 ай бұрын
The “user” component you mention is very true. Stoppages are closer to 98% user related. But the .50 cal is still “hormonal”, the timing drifts on you, links often get caught up in it, etc. it’s great for what it does, but ask a bunch of machine gunners what the “Best” machine gun is, and overwhelming you’ll hear the 240, “best weapon in the infantry”.
@billgreathouse191310 ай бұрын
@MCStoneDojo yeah, I won't disagree. Reality is 240 was just after my time in. M60 was our backbone. Seems like the 240 is a better performer, hands down. I shot a 240 3x before I got out. I liked it A LOT. My experience with the M2 was similar to the m60. Short bursts were not your friend. You're right about the links. If the ammo were handled with kitt gloves and never kinked, it helped a ton. But, really ammo can't be handled gingerly. Despite the shortcoming, it was never a bad gun for me, and it didn't take much for it to convince the guy on the receiving end that holding ground was a dangerous proposition when that ground is being violently eroded away. I always wondered why the infantry never adopted the M3. Its reliability was substantially better than the M2 , nd the rate of fire was higher. Typically used in WWII bombers and fighters. Probably overheating without the high altitude and constant air stream of flight to cool it.

If 50 cal is so bad why is it used everywhere by nato
@MCStoneDojo10 ай бұрын
The M9 is used everywhere by nato and is a crappy pistol. The M249 is used everywhere by nato and is a crappy light machine gun. The .50 must be cleaned a ton, headspace and timing is tricky, breaks down into tons of moving parts, narrow application, not very portable, etc. There lots of reasons the .50 cal is worse than say an m240 bravo or gulf (for most applications) 🙌

It’s not like many of the companies have been posting record profits at all. Prices increases had a little to do with inflation but it was really a convenient excuse for the big corporations to bleed us dry. Fine with small business doing such rate hikes because it actually did affect them more.
@MCStoneDojo10 ай бұрын
Meanwhile these same large corporations borrowed billions at low interest rates, and then turned around and bought their own stock with it, juicing the markets another 30% while keeping the spread- destroying social upward mobility, thus making retirement a pipe dream! Thanks for your comment!

Hey Mike, can you please explain the intuition behind the inverse relationship between a strengthening US stock market and a weakening dollar, or at least in this case? My intuition tells me that if the stock market goes up, there will also be an appreciation in the dollar because international investors are drawn towards domestic assets, which will increase the dollar's demand on the FX market (convert their local currency for dollars) and therefore increase its value. Please correct me if I am wrong, and as always, thank you for the great video.

Amazing question, Alan, and display of sound logic, reasoning, and understanding of market mechanisms! First off, I’m going to say you are NOT wrong, and this compensatory mechanism you’re describing IS “in play” to some extent. After traders faded the dollar at last week’s meeting, we’ve since witnessed some recovery in the usd which may be attributable to the mechanisms you’re describing. So I think there’s actually even good evidence for your claims in the USD (DXY) chart itself. BUT, this compensatory mechanism in my view gets farrrr outstripped and overcome by even bigger macro forces at play , and I invite you to step back and consider this framework to go along with your observations: Many institutions (both foreign and domestic) have been sitting on some cash and cash derivatives (US treasuries) because they have been believing the Fed might need to keep rates “higher for longer”, and “continue their fight against inflation”. If the Fed were meaningfully going to fight inflation, interest rates would need to be kept higher for longer, and this would give the dollar more mid-longer term strength. And many players at the table have been expecting just this, thus hoping the Fed might have come out more hawkish at the last meeting. But the Fed’s didn’t come out as hawkish, they came out very Dovish. As the Fed comes out last week and telegraphs to markets that we are in fact done with the tightening cycle, and preparing for an easing cycle, this dovish stance chambers YEARS of mid-longer term dollar devaluation, and scares these cash holders into risk assets like stocks and gold. They all get caught flat-footed and realize their allocation to cash is too high- if in fact the Fed is about to cut rates, thus cutting the value of the dollar (which they outlined they are going to be doing starting in May or June). As the Fed prepares the markets for an easing cycle, they’re effectively preparing to issue more dollars (debt) , which will be used to buy bonds (more debt), making the debt bubble larger, and thus pushing more and more cash further out onto the risk curve so like stocks , gold and bitcoin. And the Fed cannot simply state what interest rates will be either, they must also get into the market and make it happen. The Fed must be ready and willing to print cash, and use it to buy bonds in order to drive bond yields and interest rates lower. When the Fed cuts rates in May or June, this just turns cash into a bag of ice being melted in the hot summer sun. And with your cash melting, you MUST put that cash to work , mainly through acquiring US equities and/or inflation hedges. As institutions realize they have a melting bag of ice dollars (they’re getting a 4% interest rate against 6% to 8% real inflation, so net net negative 2% or negative 4 % per year in “real terms” for their dollars) then also realize the interest paid on their dollars is about to get reduced again, which adds even more reason to not be caught holding dollars in the future. Put another way, the opportunity cost of holding dollars starts to rise dramatically. In summary, the mechanism you’ve outlined is very real, but gets completely offset by the bigger picture. The bigger picture is that going forward, through the months and years ahead, we are net, net, facing much more dollar weakness than markets have been anticipating. So we see a knee jerk into risk. We see dollars being dumped in order to chase the fixed amount of valuable and scarce “stuff” . Hope this helps and thanks for your amazing input. Very impressed and hope you stick with the channel!

Sorry for the essay btw lol coulda been a whole video 😂
@alanwehrenberg80610 ай бұрын
@@MCStoneDojo Don't be, it was a fantastic explanation of the mechanisms currently taking place in the market. And yes, after reading it a couple times, it makes sense! The combined effect of the FED's plan to reduce interest rates by printing more money to buy government bonds (essentially increasing the money supply), and investors hedging against inflation by buying riskier assets will result in an increase in the supply of the dollars. This increase in supply will outstrip the increase in demand from international investors, thus causing a dollar depreciation in the long term. Hopefully, I've got it now :) Also, your videos are already immensely educational but have you considered doing ones on just explaining fundamental concepts in economics and finance? I ask because being a student, I find KZbin videos are great at solidifying concepts taught in the classroom, and maybe you could capture some of those views? Thank you and keep up the great work!
