we have another video where we test an Eggtimer Quantum. It might show the procedure a bit better Basically, turn on the switch, apply vacuum. The altimeter, depending on the strength of the vacuum, may set off the drogue once it reaches maximum vacuum. If not, turn off the vacuum and it will fire. Then the main will fire after (when the altimeter thinks it is at the lower altitude). Hope this helps!

i don't understand. the lights came on but the vacuum was still on. or did was the camera man zoomed in too close to were we could not see you move it way? a

Yes, once it draws as much vacuum as it can, the altimeter thinks it is at the highest altitude it can achieve. Then it triggers deployment.

@@apexrocketry not sure i follow. so you pulled the vacuum away to get it to trigger? and how would you do the test if you only hooked it to the MAIN terminal? but thanks for the fast response.

The QC on the tower parts is a problem. The nubs and dimples don’t precisely line up. If they did it would be quite simple. It is not possible to get a perfect outcome. Estes needs to retool the molds. You can get it good enough. Another issue is if you paint the capsule black and then glue on the tower, the plastic cement dissolves the black paint a little. It takes extreme precision to touch up. This is the exact same tower and capsule on the Little Joe 1. You have to sand down one segment, quite a bit, to get all three to fit on the ring. The fins on mine are different from these shown in the video. They are longer from top to bottom and the extension tabs are quite a bit shorter laterally and don’t stick out as far from the centerline. The fins shown at 0:01 don’t seem the same as those shown at 1:15, maybe a lens artifact? You can cut out a few spare extension tabs to keep on hand for repairs, I expect they might break off! It’s an easier build and paint than the 1/100 Saturn V. And worth it if you were alive to witness that era.

That rod whip made me really nervous. If I were you, I would make a rail pad. It could be as simple as a 1010 extrusion rail with some PVC legs, but I would take anything over a rod in the wind
