0:55 a better way of loosening the headset to remove the fork would be, with the stem still on the steerer tube and star nut bolt loose, to apply the front brake and hold it, while rocking the bike back and forth (as if you were testing the headset for any play/looseness). This will also loosen the headset so the fork can be removed.

Bro I got a question I better ask , ok as far as a 1957 Schwinn my headset has me stumped because my bottom bearings fit upside down better then right side up in the cup ,is there a problem with that? ,?

Narration [verbal or captions] would have helped, but it was a great help to SEE what replacing a semi-integrated headset looks like. Particularly as I was trying to isolate the differences between integrated headsets, and [press fit] semi=integrated. I was able to find articles describing it, but seeing the actual head tube & headset provided the visual info to identify mine as a [press fit] semi-integrated.

I recommend removing bearings and clean whole pf30. Than if you have the right tools you can use the same bearings but I highly recommend to put the new ones. Maybe that is OK only for a while until you get everything you need to replace them...

Wrong! Never do it like this! First you need to unscrew two bolts from the left crank body, and then the plastic one , not other way around.

Great video! Thanks! I'm replacing the bearings on my Trek X-caliber 8 2016. They're all rusty. Is it possible to replace the semi-integrated set with an integrated set?

Did precisely that to remove the Shimano PressFit bottom bracket form My new Salsa WarBird 2019 (a beautiful carbon frame). Managed to remove the drive-side BB cup, but while attempting to remove the non-drive side one, all I managed - was punching out the ball bearing, along with A PART OF THE CARBON BOTTOM BRACKET SHELL, not the nondrive side bottom bracket cup. Used the right tools, the correct procedure - and still managed to instantly destroy the bottom bracket shell! Now I have a nondrive side BB cup stuck in the frame - and a new €2.100 frame with a wrecked bottom bracket shell. Why did they use some sort of a superglue to bind the BB to the BB shell! Why on Earth would they do that! Will get in touch with Salsa (who, I must say, have been very amiable so far in responding to enquiries prior to this issue), but do not expect to get a replacement frame, as generally frame manufacturers will fuck up on all counts (i.e., 1.: no-one in the history of cycling has ever requested to have his bicycle equipped with pressfit bottom bracket shells; 2. they all know damn well how thoroughly flawed the press fit system is - yet they keep utilising it in most frames; 3. Gluing a bottom-tier BB to a BB shell so it can't be removed is inexcusably presumptuous: they must know damn well that many of us upgrade components, particularly rubbish ones). Yet the consumers are supposed to take it and pay for replacements. Damned be the piece of 💩 who came up with the idea of commercialising PressFit bottom brackets. And damned be the PressFit system!
