Do dispatchers get access to DAT through your program? DAT no longer gives access to dispatchers to use their service anymore. I was told you need to have a DOT or Authority number to gain access now.

No longer available with us is DAT, but if you have an MC or DOT, you can purchase a subscription.

If the broker should be listed as the owner on the COI , how would the dispatcher obtain this quickly from the insurance company esp. When you're trying to set up the carrier quickly to get the load. Your guidance is much appreciated 😊

Dispatcher contacts agent on the insurance policy and asks that the broker be listed as a certificate holder on the carrier's COI

As far as not charging a carrier if I don't find them a load a trainer told me that you should not charge a carrier if you don't find them a load and also this is a great selling point when looking for carriers. "Mr. Carrier if you don't book a load from me then you owe me nothing and you are still free to utilize another dispatcher. Is that fair?" A carrier has more incentive to use your services.

Great info I am taking plenty of notes. On the dispatcher getting paid thru the factoring company I heard other trainers say you want to avoid this method and invoice the carrier directly as you could be labeled by fmsca as a "broker" if the factoring company pays you directly. Have you heard this before?

Getting paid through factoring is no way, shape or form a type of brokering by definition or any other way. These trainers are not understanding this concept and are misrepresenting FMCSA by saying that they (FMCSA) can label or interpret this as brokering. Factoring companies offer programs and referrals to dispatch services for bringing them clients (carriers) to their factoring company. An additional bonus of this is paying the dispatch service the same time they pay the carrier. It is just an incentive, not brokering. Thank you for the great question!
