What a hack job. Sandpaper on "rusted" NICKEL plating???
@busterdoggboye40594 күн бұрын
Nice effort, but you should have found out how to do things properly instead of just winging it like this. And now you’ve shown others how to mutilate their own machine by publishing this video. A Victrola VV-IV (which is absolutely NOT the entirely different Victor IV or “Victor the Fourth”) is an extremely common and low value machine, so nothing was really lost by destroying this one. But viewers should be cautious about using anything they see in this video.

You may not know this but there is a reason for the piece of marble on the register. It was for tapping coins on to make sure they were not counterfeit. They sounded different than real coins. My mom was an Antique dealer when I was a kid(And yes she had a National register in her Antique store and used it) and told me that,

My brother had a sky blue peddle car that was so much like this. We played with that car forever. I think you did an amazing job with the truck, especially considering all of the scratches and dents on the surface. Love your work!

Modern, electronic, slot machines are not rigged as you say. You claimed they are programmed to pay out a "precise" amount. They are no more "precise" than your mechanical one in this video. Both yours and modern ones have a RTP you can calculate. Due to the law of large numbers over the course of a ton of spins the actual RTP will approach to near equal the mathematical RTP on both type of machines.

Incredibly complex piece of machinery. Many years ago (1973) I worked at a little restaurant that had a register similar to this although not as complex (cheaper version?). Don’t know if it was as old.

Take note this man ruined the value of this historic machine by “restoring” it the bronze should never have been sanded with sand paper. And cleaning anything you have to use proper cleaning solutions so you don’t wash away the historic value of the machine.

I remember the very first record. Alexander Graham Bell’s “Mr. Watson, Come Here (I want my MTv)” which was a #2 hit. 😛 $15 in 1927 $365 nearly a century later.

Aside from the top sign, I have this exact register. We've used it as a cash drawer for the last 53 years, and other than the reciept printer (which I've never tested), it all still works perfectly. My father did have to make a new drawer for it, when he bought it back then, but all the hardware was included, so it was just the woodworking, and since that's what we do.....

It’s really amazing some people had the knowledge, smarts and intelligence to build such a complicated machine back in the early 1900’s.

I would have loved to see how you polished the larger case panels. I have a 1902 class 95 that has never been restored, and is not rusty. I worked for NCR in the late 70's and was told never to crank the machine with any of the buttons pressed, because it would probably ball up. That being said I use it every day to put money in. I just turn the key lock on the side and turn the crank to open the drawer. It works fine for that.

I think gramophones had cylinder ‘records’ didn’t they?
@busterdoggboye40594 күн бұрын
There were disc players and cylinder players. Gramophone is the British term for a disc phonograph.
