31 now, my 6th grade English teacher had episodes of this show on tape. When we were reading some of Roald Dahl's short stories in class he had days where he showed us the episodes pertaining to the story we read, and The Landlady was always my favorite story and episode. Thanks for the memories and fun in our classes, Mr. Steele!

I heard this arrangement at a friend's house on an LP back in 1972 and it sent bolts of lightening through me. I have been searching for a recording of this ever since. I have found many wonderful versions of Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary but none compared to the depth and majesty of this full orchestral arrangement. Thanks to KZbin and after endless pursuits I've found it-still my favorite after over 50 years of searching.

And John Barbirolli recorded the Sir Henry Wood orchestration with the Halle Orchestra (it is to be found in the Halle Favourites Vol 3). In addition, Musikproduktion Hoeflich (mph) has published a new print of the Sir Henry Wood conductor's score and the orchestral parts. Be sure to own it, it shouldn't be missed. On the other hand, Leopold Stokowski made an orchestral transcription of the Tumpet Voluntary, which has been recorded quite a few times. I would recommend the recording by Matthias Bamert and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra on the Chandos label.

There was not enough for Macnee as Steed to do in the last season. Remember he had started a minor character on the show in the first season with Ian Hendry as the lead actor. He was becoming minor again. As for Thorson she was fine as a leading lady. And she had the beauty and sex appeal. But credibility was stretched by having her be a little too heroic. Half as much heroics by her Tara character would have been perfect.

I wonder how this could have been shot in 1967. She's talking about A Month in the Country with Ian McShane, which was produced for TV ten years later, in 1977.

Absolutley Superb Show and Diana Rigg. Did she ever look ugly or not Classy or unsophisticated. She was the personification of being sexy with out any effort what so ever.

Maybe I'm biased from decades of familiarity with the aired theme, but this one sounds to me like somebody fell into the orchestra pit in the horns section. Apologies to the shade of Mr. Griffiths, but I'm glad they chose the Ron Grainer theme.
