I am in the same situation having a double bypass 6 months ago happening while I was building my RV 12is. Any recommendations going about getting a special issuance to get my medical back? AOPA and EAA haven't been too helpful. Thanks
@paulstraub96153 ай бұрын
I remember calling the aero-medical FAA group in OK City to apply for a special issuance class 3. I had to wait one year from the surgery. I also needed several treadmill stress tests from a local (Sacramento, CA) cardiologist. After each test, they did an some non-invasive scans of my heart and the results were sent to OK City FAA for evaluation. It was a total of just over a year to get my special issuance 3rd class. As soon as I had that, I was able to transition to Basic Med and have been flying that way ever since. I wish you all the best in your recovery and RV12 build!! Paul

Great story and beautiful car. Very tastefully done. As a California resident who has considered Tennessee as a place to live, are there enough good roads to keep you satisfied? It’s hard to leave California canyons.
@paulastraub6 ай бұрын
Hi Micah, the roads here in East TN are the best I have experienced anywhere. The Dragon, The Snake and many others are fantastic. The Appalachians have awesome roads. I have been here 5 years now and I would say that it's at least equivalent to CA. I have to be a little more careful when I take one of my motorcycles out, fantastic roads, but no shoulders or runoffs on a lot of them. Thanks for watching! Paul

Yeah man. Electrical is a huge deal. I am an FAA Commercial Aircraft Mechanic. Just to share, that a Boeing 747 has just over 50 miles of electrical wires running through it. So can you imagine how much weight that adds to an aircraft? Tons. Literally. Great video my friend. I want to do this and your experience is a great tool. I am guessing that I will be able to save some time on the airframe install and fab as that is what I have been doing for over 20 years. Again. Great video mate.
