Hello, excellent tram video. I’m currently investigating getting an HOm gauge Navemo Cobra tram model, what is your experience with them if you don’t mind me asking please ? 😅
@michaelinlondon8 күн бұрын
Hello there. I'm sorry I have no experience with Navemo models. (I have seen Navemo models on display at the tram museum in Zurich. They appeared to be very high quality, with a price tag to match.)

Metro line 12 (MetroSur) has nothing to do with Parla tram ("Tranvía de Parla"). MetroSur is an entirely underground 42 km long full metro ring line which serves several Southern municipalities of Madrid, but Parla is none of them. Unlike ML lines, Parla tram line does not appear on Metro maps. Otherwise your description is correct.

Hello, what do you use to fill in the actual tram track please, I am currently attempting to make a small diorama of the Manchester Metrolink and this would be a great help?
@michaelinlondon4 ай бұрын
Hi there. I used Das modelling clay which is available in a grey "stone" colour. However, in the previous version of the layout on here, I used ordinary Polyfilla. I scrapped out the groove for the tram rail with a screwdriver whilst the Polyfilla was still soft. After the Polyfilla set, I painted the whole roadway with grey emulsion paint then wiped the paint off the surface of the rails with damp kitchen roll.

Fantastic layout . May i ask where you got the snowy mountains backdrop for the alpine section?

Thanks Dan. It's my own holiday photo that I edited and printed out using Microsoft Paint. The programme automatically prints the photo across several A4 sheets; if you know where to look you can just about see the joins. I used heavier than normal paper. For my first attempt I stuck the paper on with water-based glue and the ink ran. For the second attempt I used 3M Dry Mount spray which was great, because it also gives you time to re-position the paper.

Ist die Anlage Digital gesteuert oder Analog, gesteuert?
@michaelinlondon11 ай бұрын
@@ZugStrab Hi there. It is analog. There are four block sections corresponding to the joins in the baseboard, so up to three trams can be "in service" at one time. Trams move in to the next empty block section. There is a pause and change-over relay for the current direction at each end.

Hello. It is a traditional Irish jig called "The Boys of Tandragee". This recording is by a Belfast group called Darragh Folk who have since disbanded, so the link to their website in the video description may no longer work, but the tune is quite well known so there may be other recordings available.

A well-maintained tram can last indefinitely. Old age is not of itself a reason for replacing something. The longer a vehicle is in service, the more the environmental costs associated with production are dissipated over time. This is one of the reasons why electric trams are more sustainable.
@josumds18962 жыл бұрын
@@michaelinlondon Maybe it's Spanish or Valencian regulation, but trams can't here can't be in use for more than 25 years, so the 3800 series has to be retired, because of that the company is hiring Stadler to build the new 4500 series.
@michaelinlondon2 жыл бұрын
@@josumds1896 That's a pity, and very wasteful. Elsewhere in Europe there are plenty of cities with well maintained trams that are way over 25 years old still giving good service.

Are there ever freight trains on that line?
@michaelinlondon2 жыл бұрын
Sadly there are now none, and it is a huge missed opportunity. Before Brexit there were three ferries a week from Rosslare to continental Europe; there are now thirty-four and the roads around Wexford are often choked with lorries. Many of the ferries carry unaccompanied freight (i.e. lorry trailers without cabs and drivers) so a ship-rail transfer would seem to be the obvious solution

beautiful ! congratulations ! which automatic control device for this miniature ? some explications? thanks
@michaelinlondon5 жыл бұрын
Thank you and hello. Sorry for the delay in replying, KZbin did not send a notification. Each end of the layout is automated by simple relays controlled by miniature reed switches under the track, triggered by a small magnet under each tram. There are two isolated a sections: the single-track reversing spur including the point, and the safety-stop zone for the incoming tram. A double-pole change-over relay reverses the current in the spur. The Hartel points are spring-loaded in favour of the outgoing direction of travel so do not need motorising. The sequence of operation is as follows: 1) The incoming tram trips the change of polarity in the reversing spur. 2) The incoming tram trips the current off in the safety-stop and the current on in the spur. The outgoing tram starts to move. 3) The incoming tram enters the safety-stop zone and halts. 4) After clearing the points, the outgoing tram trips the change of polarity in the reversing spur. 5) The outgoing tram then trips the current on in the safety-stop, the incoming tram starts to move. 6) When fully in the reversing spur, the incoming tram trips the current off in the reversing spur and halts. The length of the isolating sections and the positioning of the reed switches have to allow for the length of the longest tram. At the “winter” end, LED colour light signals are connected directly to the change-over relay. There is also a pause-stop on the curved section of the layout which I bought ready-made from heathcote-electronics.co.uk/ This is triggered by an infra-red detector which is normally mounted under the baseboard pointing upwards through the centre of the track, but I added it after the layout was built, so the detector is hidden in the tree next to the tram stop pointing down at the track and it works very well. I hope this helps. Actually, all the above should be written in the past tense. I have recently moved home and the layout is dismantled in packing cases, hopefully to be rebuilt some time in the future.
