What was the name of the battle Teanecker was wounded in ? I can only put up info on the Battle of the Wilderness and I wouldn’t say that took place in northwestern Virginia. I live in the northern Shenandoah Valley and we had many troops move through the area. I’ve found a few things from a skirmish in my backyard. My friend’s 1890’s house was on the site of the Union encampment that was unexpected shelled. She had boxes of things that were left by the soldiers.

Sorry, but slavery is still fully legal in the US. It has never been abolished. Also, the major change of the war was to change the nation into a strong federalist one, which the founders had rejected. Finally, the South legally left the US. For those of you who dispute this, show me where in the Constitution it says that a state must have permission to leave. It speaks about joining the Union, about changing state bounds, but does not address leaving. With that said, the 10th amendment, which by the way overrides and modifies all the Constitution says that if the power is not given to the Federal Government, it resides with the State or the People of that State. So check your history and Constitution.

Lee never, ever attempted to capture Washington DC. His maneuvers were made to keep DC protected. Troops protecting the capital couldn’t be used to attack Richmond. But what do I know. You’re the Civil War expert.

Those who say Lee tried to capture Washington DC are trying to paint the picture that the South was attempting to overturn the federal govt when in fact they were just trying to leave the the federal government.
