Thank you for posting this brilliant video . I used to visit friends living at No4 West St. Osney, in the 1970's .. Happy Days .. On holiday from West Wales, I tried to visit Osney again just before the Lockdowns after a lovely day at Blenheim Palace . But the traffic around the Pear Tree Island was unbelievable !! . Nothing like as I recall in the 1970's This video has given me hope for the future, with an alternative route . Cheers

They keep changing bus routes, but according to the current timetable the bus does still serve the West Wing, but not Marston. So, yes, the route has changed.

Wow, it sounds so different! I guess at such a wide gauge the differentiation of the wheels slipping on the slight curve makes a different chatter whine on the wheels, so a 7' 1/4" gauge on this curve would be a 4' 81/2" tram on a tight curve, a bell like chime chatter. Also too the wheels are at the end of the sides, like an old style standard gauge tram. Jm

I had problem with that music. It never occurred to me but I apparently breached copyright and the vid was blocked until the music was properly acknowledged.

Where is the bus stop at the Westgate to go back to Wantage please? The only bus stop I can find in Oxford marked S9 is on Frideswide Square but according to the timetable there is supposed to be one at the Westgate.

My timetable is a year out of date and they keep changing routes and stops. The nearest stops that I can find are either down Park End Street or Speedwell Street by the side of the Crown Court. When I filmed this, the bus started in St Aldate's, but no stop there now admits to serving the S9.

The only surviving C1 is on static display in the National Railway Museum in York, not in running order; so, sorry, no I can't do a video.

I don't. I rest it on a book and hold it with one hand, often having to use the other hand to cling to the bus to keep myself steady. It can get wearing on a long trip.

@@joeltravelino Holding it works for me, particularly as I have to move it around regularly to find a patch clear of mist inside or out, as you can see in the film. I don't know how our roads compare with other counties but I get the impression that ours are particularly pitted and corrugated; you often hear the bus rattling in protest as it gets shaken to pieces.

@@joeltravelino I once considered houses in Witney and Carterton (I like Witney), but realised that I did not want to live with the A40 between me and Oxford. So, it was a case of find the money to make Oxford possible.

No. They have different termini, though it is true that both take in Oxford Brookes campus and various halls of residence
