The same thing happens if liquid is passing through the big tube rather than air.

The reason are the Passat winds as a consequence of rising warm and humid air in the equator region and sinking cold and dry air in the region of the tropics. Thank you for the enlightening lecture.

The ice-cold block (which is now the real receiver) absorbed heat from the ambient temp block via radiation reflected through the parabolic mirrors; so the right-hand block's temperature decreased. Of course, ambient air convection also played a part in the final temps. too.

I think for the funnel the reason that happens is the as area/the hole decreases when the water goes to shoot out , it must compensate for the decreas by increasing its speed and so it shoots higher??

What if you create a funnel pump? Use a gravity activated mechanism to cover and uncover the hole and a mechanical system to dunk the funnel in the water. Have it all timed properly, and maybe the water could be pumped through a tube cranking a turbine 🤷🏿♂️ it's an idea at least
@philipwaters504312 күн бұрын
I’m sure they’ve thought of that but it may cost more energy than what we get, meaning it is not efficient. Power plants need to make more energy than the cost of energy to be visible.

So what you’re telling me is that if we have a giant upside down funnel in the ocean, pressurise it and then release the pressure, the rocket could be launched into space without fuel? Cool!

For science, (ignoring practicality) how big would one of these funnels need to be to launch Spacheships into orbit? How much force would it require to submerge a funnel of this size?

Hello, would love to reach out to you and ask whether this can be applied in building structures where I want air to vent out from the roof in increased pressure, only that the tube would be vertical. Perhaps you can provide email? That would be great and would highly appreciate it. Thanks!
