I'm sorry I missed the party and thanks for this recording. Marie I'm just so inspired by the way you are living your life. I agree with Simone that hope is only found in community and right relationships. Those hard working Rwandans are great sources of hope. But we must face the truth of Rwandan leadership head on and Michaela Wrong's book DO NOT DISTURB shows that genocide can reoccur again if leaders are not required to follow the rule of law. In honor of your birthday Marie I'm recommitting to working for peace with active nonviolence. Keep going and God bless!!!

Pax Christi welcome the gathering manuhiri (guests) with the blowing of a conch (Paula Anamani rsm) and karanga (call) by Rangi Davis (co-patron, Pax Christi Aotearoa New Zealand). The Karanga is a first vocal expression weaving across the expanse. The karanga is a voice that provides a safe pathway that sets a foundation for the gathering to build upon. It weaves the kaupapa of wisdom gained from the past and living in the present and looks to the future in this encounter with aroha.
