Big issue qith buying older vehicles is the problems you dont know about. Ive been driving for 6k miles with no slider pins/guide bolts for my front brake calipers. Just found out yesterday. Still working towards getting to that engine swap that should have already happened.. Cool thing is i have a he only 03 Forester ive seen in years and altogether repairs, insurance etc ive only paid 3.2k.

Buy trucks from the south! I have an 08 GMC. No rust. One spot on the roof has some surface rust where the paint was thin and I have never waxed it.... It live outside all its life. Has 280K on it. Looking at the paint its def. a 50 footer. Crazy for me to think of a truck that is only 10 years old to be rusty. Tons of that body style 4 doors with 4x4 running around here. Mine runs like a champ. Does have a few broken header bolts though. I have worn the suspension out. Rebuild the front end at 220. brakes, motor mounts and tires. I even changed the plugs twice. Fixed the odd issue here or there. The dash is little cracked, but assume the transmission will die before 350K.... Truck will likely see 500K with me. payments are high and that 600 bucks a month will buy a lot of gas for the old guzzler. Roughly 14 mph no matter what I do. Interstate driving here is like 85 or better! Likely to get a small SUV to run errands and save the truck for "truck stuff". Currently I daily it and haul dirt bikes, the odd bit of wood, fire wood, or plywood. It's done all of the "truck stuff" in December.

First , I haven't seen a " custom camper C 20 " since about 1972. You do have a rare and wonderful truck there. Second, yes, take the time to do it right, don't rush it, and nickels and dimes is how I would have to do it anyway.

I just bought a 1991 F150($850) for the sole purpose of launching my boat in saltwater. It has minimal surface rust and is rust free now. I bought it to save my 2017 Outback.

Anyone can go and buy a new truck. Real men keep the old one's going.👍
