i love your videos yvonne and i watch almost all of them. I normally don't mind ads, but I'm saying this in the nicest way possible - betterhelp has.... big (proven) controversies causing a mass of people to hate against it. You might want to reconsider the sponsorship

To BetterHelp's credit, it seems like they've addressed all the concerned that came from the controversies. The original controversies (which were over 5 years ago now) were pretty blown out of proportion in the first place, and were debunked by the likes of LegalEagle. They now claim some legal burden for the vetting of their therapists. The language in the TOS which kickstarted the controversy was used to disclaim legal liability for the therapists they were partnered with. You can bet 99% of websites/services you use have similar language to protect themselves legally but you just don't know or care because no one told you to be mad about it. It was pretty unlikely you weren't getting a licensed therapist back then, and it's even less likely today since they're taking extra steps to ensure their therapists are properly vetted. That's the biggest controversy out of the way. They've also changed their data practices and they can no longer share your data with advertisers. They paid $7.8 million to the FTC and this was their statement: "The FTC alleged we used limited, encrypted information to optimize the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns so we could deliver more relevant ads and reach people who may be interested in our services. This industry-standard practice is routinely used by some of the largest health providers, health systems, and healthcare brands. Nonetheless, we understand the FTC's desire to set new precedents around consumer marketing, and we are happy to settle this matter with the agency." Regarding the complaints about the quality of therapists, this is not something unique to BetterHelp. Even for in-person counselling, it can take years to find a good therapist that's right for you. On BetterHelp you can change therapists whenever you want if you don't like them. BetterHelp can be a genuinely helpful service for some people. You guys really need to stop just saying it's bad without saying or even really knowing why except for the fact you probably heard people saying it's bad over half a decade ago.

@@GrassFudge7 i highly suggest watching a quick video on it but tldr their therapists are not certified, there's a lot of hatred from said counselors, they don't do background checks on these people, etc... someone i used to know said that the person assigned to them was a creep and was trying to groom them... so i think it's safe to say that this company is NOT good, sadly. they prey on emotionally vulnerable people who can't afford real therapy while not caring about the people they're "trying to help"
