This is high level combat tactics. Fast paced FPS games back in the day required a lot of game sense and timing. There will never be another game like UT99.

Wish I were at least half as good... Alas, not with my reaction time. Also, I disagree about "the only way to get better - play against good players". You can't learn jackshit when you get owned non-stop without any chance to retaliate. Watching how pros play, analysing their movement and reasoning behind it, training basics and then playing with players that's progressively slightly better than you - that's how you can become somewhat better.

none of the improvements in the last 24 years matter to that game. There's only ever been 1 fix that UT has needed and thats the removal of that teleport device. Ruins the game.

Gonna go ahead and say this. A lot of these frags seem to be blatantly staged. Sorry, it looks cool and all, but bruh literally shooting rockets at a wall and having someone blatantly dash into them is too much.

You know, it's funny how a 23 year old game is more fluid than today's games. No black screen upon death/respawn, instantly actionable unlike halo or call of duty when you're at the mercy of the !#@$ game mechanics and the guy spawnkilling you, unable to move but able to die for almost half a second.
