So do we find out that Patty is Ellan's Mother,?? Someone please answer
@alexaraya20183 ай бұрын
What pressure, you have two of the funniest people in the history of hollywod, and Glen Close who is not a stick in the mud...............I would imagine that the first takes or the last takes were a test of strength not to say funny things.

A beautiful, tough, rough scene. Martin Short's high-flying lawyer character too busy to check in more frequently. The receptionist lady (apologies, I don't know her actor's name) is wonderful in her small role.

I love Damages TV series. I have the DVDs and each time I watch it, it gets better. It is so layered with intrigue and Glenn Close is consistently brilliant. Ted Danson also compelling. They both make the other actors seem wooden, but I think that is the point. The other characters can’t figure them out. It’s like a long drawn out game. Brilliant!

I think Short and Tomlin were so good in this series. They are obviously famous comedic actors but they shine here in a serious role. Kudos to them. [Edited for spelling.]

But Ellen doesn't seem all that happy either. She reluctantly chose being a SAHM over the thing she was passionate about, being a lawyer. She realized she couldn't have everything she wants. Neither Patty and Ellen came out unscathed. They both have profound regrets and pain.

She's superb in this, like she is in everything. The fact that she's had countless nominations, for Oscars imparticular, of which she's won none, from 8 nominations, settles my argument that winning awards is not the truest measure of merit in acting.

@@Circa1628True. I don't think anyone can have it all. Although I do think most people get less ambitious and hungry as they get older, and just want a low stress comfortable life, playing with their grandkids if they have any. Most people.
