If are looking at more than architecture, Cornell has them all beat, 5 waterfalls, a lake with boats, woodlands, deep rocky gorges with trails - all owned by and on the campus proper. If you droppped Duke into the middle of a huge, beautiful state park...that is Cornell.

Anyone remember the impromptu Britney Sprears concert on the quad in 2001? That was me 😅I graduated one year *earlier* so I didn’t care 😂 Fun fact: the UNCA class of 2000 hired a photographer to take our class photo with a camera from 1900. It was such a hot spring that year and we had to try to sit still for a long time. Still, there are a few blurry faces in the class photo. I didn’t care to buy the picture but my mom did and surprised me with a framed version after graduation. Pretty neat keepsake. All you Virginia Tech meteorologists, before VT had a program, you basically had to go out of state for the operational forecasting track. The campus is probably 5 times bigger now than it was then. Asheville is a good 4 to 4.5 hours or so from the Roanoke Valley. It made a great second home for me. To my surprise my old village hall dorm is one of the few still standing. They announced the tearing down of most of them after I graduated.

As a Cantabrigian/Bostonian, I'm glad you liked our city(s) so much! Boston is a wonderful place full of so many people of different backgrounds and interests, and because of all of the colleges in the area (roughly 1 college for every square mile of land), the city never feels stagnant, despite being so rooted to its history. Cambridge is also most certainly a part of Greater Boston as a city (due to some failed annexations in the early 1800s, they never incorporated their suburbs) and easily reachable in a few minutes by bus, train, bikes, or walking. (it's honestly slower to take a car most of the time!) To anyone planning on going to one of the wonderful institutions around here, welcome and enjoy!

Penn, Columbia, John Hopkins are located in tough neighborhoods where you have to be careful walking outside University gates at night.being in the heart of Big Cities of Philly, New York& Baltimore,MD.....Yale is a beautiful campus (architecture-wise) is located in New Haven Ct. Off Yales campus some of the surrounding areas are rough ; Like Penn & Columbia (fully gated campuses); You alao have to be carefull walking around there at night....**Darthmouth Princeton and Brown are located in beautiful rural small towns where the surrounding arèas are pretty safe, quiet & truly connected although boring at times you can take the train or bus to the major metro cities like Boston Philly, or NewYork. Enough Said.

I go to Columbia, been here for a minute now. Columbia isn’t that rough. Yes, it’s in NYC, but it is not as rough as you’re making it sound. It’s in a quiet part of the city where it isn’t as busy, and there is constant security roaming the streets (Columbia police, NYPD and now private security). Columbia’s 116th subway station is pretty safe too, pretty quiet compared to the rest of the city. If you think Columbia is a tough / rough neighborhood, wait until you see the rest of NYC. It only gets rough once you get closer to Morningside Park / closer to Harlem, and that’s predominately at night. During the day it isn’t that bad.

As a UNC Asheville alumna, I loved this video! Overall, it was a very accurate depiction of campus. Although campus is small, there are a ton of hidden gems and every part is beautiful. For instance, the philosophy building, Whitesides, has a beautiful roof garden and terraced “ancient gardens”. There are two large parts of campus you did not explore. Those are: the observatory, which is on top of a mountain abutting the main campus behind the athletic buildings, and the botanical gardens “botans”. Most of campus connects through a set of nature trails and there are several large gardens along UNCA’s periphery. The botans even connects to a greenway that extends to downtown. I mention those things since they are well-loved features of our campus, but it takes time to find them and discover how they link up.

@@ShivNC you like Princeton because it’s a real college town. So are Hanover and Ithaca, which makes your conclusion about your ratings seem silly…
@ShivNCАй бұрын
@@ralphjanis2059 right but I also like how it’s still pretty close to both NYC and Philly, whereas the closest thing to Hanover is 2.5 hours to Boston and for Ithaca it’s 3+ hours to NYC. If you are thinking of an engineering major, AP Physics is a pretty useless course. Engineering degrees require calculus-based physics classes, so AP Physics 1 *Algebra Based* doesn’t help you in anyway other than introducing you to basic concepts. If your school offers it, try to take AP Physics C, a calculus-based physics AP class.
