The patience these must’ve taken⚰️ I had to do a portrait in pointillism for an art class I took a few years back and I will never forget the agony of having to listen to a room full of people complaining that their arm hurt while I still hadn’t even started the shaded half of the face 😭

How do you transfer the sketched image in the form of an outline for dot painting? Do you sketch right on the paper for dot work? I would appreciate it if you could teach me. Your KZbin is very informative. Thank you very much!
@justinmorgan21263 ай бұрын
Most of the time I let the dots go down chaotically (within reason) so long as the spacing is even the result will be the same. Attempting to lay the dots without any overlap is pointless and tedious and next to impossible if you are drawing at any reasonable scale. PLus I like the texture that is created within the stipple by allowing a certain amount of overlap. It never interferes with the image I create. My tip for beginners is to use a 1mm or 0.5mm pen at first and go for something small, no more than A5 (letter size). You will kill your hand if you go larger at first. Try making simple shapes like squares, spheres and ribbons. Don't try for complex shapes at first. You can also combine stippling with line shading, and especially hatching to very good effect.
