it's kinda fucked up, at a certain point, it's like there's infinite number of separate chess games happening in a chess game

wrrrong! this is an "omega" problem, omega being the first infinite ordinal, there is a *theoretical* infinite damage here, but a *finite* amount you can actually achieve (my knowledge on infinity is a bit rusty, so if i'm wrong, please correct me)

When you look like losing in infinite chess, just resign. No need to hand your game down to generations after you. 😂

@Naviary Would it be possible to develop a chess engine thar can recognize.mate in omega and potentially declare white/black the victor without having the game drag on for eons?

ah yes, i do start my game with checkmate in ω^3•120+ω^22•83+14001 and inf pieces. (chess got an update? cool! wonder what thatsa bout)

Hi, I asked a question before : What is the number of best possible positions in infinite chess (considering the best moves without the nonsense moves) with finite and infinite number of pieces? Please answer this question and give your reasons for your answer. I am researching such cases And your answers help me a lot

The way to construct mate in ω₁ might be to give each square on the board a complex-valued quantum state with a probability distribution and then take the holographic infinite limit of that quantum chess conformal field theory, i.e. quantum gravity chess

4:07 there's a fatal flaw in that move tho, if the rock moves 2 instead of 1 the king can't be cornered, since it has a rock to capture in each side

Is it possible to make a chess variant where the value of a position is uncomputable because the position chosen by black on an announcement selects an input to a turing-equivalent system? (which makes knowing the value uncomputable because it's equivalent to the halting problem)... Possibly some implementation of something like a minsky 2 counter machine.

If the definition of omega 1 is to be uncountable since it is so big but still finite, doesn't that just a infinite chess board with 2 king on the board only? the game can still end = finite, but you can't count the move for it to end since it is too big? Right? Hope i am getting this correctly.
