My understanding is that if you amend / improve / change anything on the exhaust - you will need a remap to balance that change out on the other side of the equation. I removed the baffle on my S1000rr (2015) and whilst the sound is lovely (pops and bangs) the initial low down torque (the immediate pull) is now missing. I am going to put the baffle back in now after having ridden around for a few weeks without it, because I miss the torque. The servo is there for a reason - saying that all aftermarket exhausts eliminate it is fine, but you should also inform viewers that aftermarket exhausts are also ALWAYS accompanied by a full remap to balance the fuel / air ratios!

Just watched your vid today, 12-30-21. I like your moto. But believe it or not, I REALLY like your STOCK muffler look, with the baffle out, sound 👍🏾👍🏾. But that's just me . . . .I like Sporty, but not overly loud. Gotta think about your neighbors, and your own hearing , sometimes. Stay SAFE.

Lovely video. Thanks for making one. Just ordered M4 GP slip on exhaust. Can't really afford a full exhaust for now. Have been reading threads about how baffle removal will decrease the performance and hurt the engine in the long run. Did you notice anything performance wise while riding after the baffle removal? Also is the engine heating more than usual once the baffles are out?

Synthad1 ok man thanks for getting back to me do they seem louder I mean they’re already pretty loud just wondering.
@Synthad1
@Synthad1 5 жыл бұрын
tre alequin yeah it’s louder. The stock exhaust is pretty quiet, but if you pull the baffle out of the stock Exhaust, you’ll get a sense of it. The M4 is pretty loud. Probably louder than most except for the SC Project. A mid range slipon (as far as loudness) would be the akrapovic ($$), If you go on the spec sheets of each slipon you are interested in, you can look up the decibel levels. Stock might be around 88 decibels. The M4 and SC Project is probably around 104 decibels with baffle out. So if you don’t want too loud, maybe go for mid 90’s. For $300 or so, the M4 is nice. Not too loud with baffle in - loud AF with no baffle. So best of both worlds for low money. Just my opinion.. info I offered is just from memory. Haven’t read up on it for awhile

Synthad1 yeah ok I’ve been stuck between the m4 or a Racefit which is also pretty nice I like the stock fine it’s actually but am not a fan of the appearance at all plus I’ve always had loud bike I just don’t want to get rid of the sexy pops lol I’m probably going to do the cat eleminator too this season just looking into some options I’ve never had an m4 so I’m kind of looking into it
@Synthad1
@Synthad1 5 жыл бұрын
tre alequin yeah for just a slip on, I don’t think it matters as far as what brand you go with. I just listened to exhaust sound compilations. Some of the gear heads might disagree, but I think it’s just looks. the real performance is obviously the straight pipe back to the heads, or Cat delete (mid-pipe). That’s my summer goal too. Cat delete and Bren Tune.

The valve is used to control reflections from compression pulses back to the exhaust ports to improve gas flow, not to reduce noise. You've just ruined the power output of your motor and who knows what else damage will occur over time.
@Synthad1
@Synthad1 6 жыл бұрын
Paul Newton wrong.. every single S1kRR (or any bike with servo) that has an after market full exhaust, rids the bike of the servo system. after market exhausts don’t come with a replacement servo. So saying removing the cable ruins the power and everything else is wrong, or would apply to anyone that has an after market exhaust (99%) Talked with BMW tech as well, and many articles on this are on offer.
@Synthad1

Yes I’ve seen that information thanks, it’s going to be a conversation that has two answers I’m afraid. Older bikes did use then for exhaust advantages but Synthad1 is correct, they are disconnected when upgrading the muffler or full system with no place to refit on new exhaust. Certainly sounds better without it a low revs/ idle. They are also used to reduce noise at low rpm so bikes can meet Euro5 noise standards
