Awesome video. How are you rigging up the worms? I’ve never really fished with worms in the river, but trying to expand from the usual things I do.
@FiveRiverRodBenderFishing2 күн бұрын
I just put on a BB split shot about 12-14" about a size 8 short shank hook. I just hook the worm once so it can wiggle in the water and get a bite. Threading too much worm on the hook results in unnatural action. Tight lines! Thanks for the comment!

This is in the mad river up north from the creek of beavers lol. It is normally pretty wadeable except during high water events. All our rivers are super low right now. Hope we get some rain...

I thought that might have been the spot as well. I haven't been over there this spring/summer yet. But the sign posting seems really new since last fall? I believe I saw a pond closer to BV going west from spot there, but it had been posted a couple of years back when I saw it. Glad to see you are back, I was one of those newbies to the channel, found you around this time last year I believe. Hoping to get some pointers from watching someone who fishes near me.

How do you fish that swim baits for trout? By the way thank you for responding to my comments it’s been helping me a ton
@FiveRiverRodBenderFishingАй бұрын
I fish those swimbaits the same way no matter what species I'm looking for. I use the lightest jig head I can to get down to the bottom. And then I pop it up off the bottom and just reel it back slowly. Just like in this winter saugeye video. A lot of times when the fish are active I get hit as the bait sinking.

Awesome job! Trout are weird. I'm mostly a smallmouth fisherman and trout behave totally differently. Seems like the browns will be in anything deeper than a foot of water. I've made casts where I thought I would never catch a fish and have one come back. I have spent two hours on deep holes that I swore had fish in them only to get skunked. Just gotta keep going back and learning what works for you. Good luck! Thanks for watching!

Find low head dams on the gmr. If you look for a paddle map, it will show them. They all have parking and good access. Also, any bridge over the river usually has a place to pull off and fish. I wouldn't mind telling you exactly where, but I get flamed for naming spots and don't wanna hear it from the locals. Good luck out there!
