This is a fabulous advert. It's missing things like handcycles and old maids cycling to Evensong on pedelecs. But it's great to see. Let's hear it for gobby little madams.

I had the original 5 speed version of that bike,covered thousands of miles on it when i was younger, recently restored and upgraded it with modern shifters and upped it to 14 speed,still an awesome bike to ride.

Looks like too many compromises from start to finish. Including not autocue on video. Sad for such an iconic brand.

I’m 51 now but I’ll never forget that day around 11 yrs old in 1982 in Halfords with my mum and dad looking for a bike for me for Christmas. Up and till that moment I had a poor man’s version of the Raleigh Burner which was an Iron Horse Dirt Burner. Not a Raleigh bike but a lookalike. But my parents bought me a Raleigh Mag Burner on that day which I later customised with a decal front number plate, number 36, Whitewall Tyres with Bicycle Wheel Disc Covers, and a Aeroyal Bmx Seat in black and a chrome layback seat post. But I’ll never forget how majestic the Raleigh Tuff Burner looked in its distinctive blue and yellow colours, with leather padding and those mag wheels. I think it was a lot more expensive then the Raleigh Mag Burner and that’s why I didn’t get it, but lots of my friends on my housing estate had the Raleigh Tuff Burner. I’d didn’t release Raleigh relaunched it again for its 40th anniversary and it seems I missed the boat again. But I did like as well The Raleigh Tuff Burner in gold and black, another nice edition. Hopefully Raleigh will launch some more Raleigh Tuff Burners for us older generations.

Important to say, ' before fully filling the tube with air, just put one or two pumps, then work your hands around the tyre to allow the tube to untwist or free up from being trapped, then pump to the required'.

Me, being 15, I honestly need to find one whether it's the remake or the original, just because my dad had one when he was my age and it'd be cool to take after him. Too bad these things are so popular 😂
@Kit_Bear Жыл бұрын
Do you understand how legendary this bike is? Every kid who was in the 80's wanted this BMX but you never saw one. It was a myth, you saw pictures of it, saw it on TV shows like Grange Hill but you never saw one in person. I bought one for my nephew and everyone's jaw drops. They stop in the street just to look at it. You can't park it anywhere without people taking photos and asking questions about it. This bike grabs everyone's attention young and old. The young ones think it's the best bike ever made and the older ones crack a smile with nostalgia. Wherever you ride it people shout out with compliments and gather around when you stop. If you want attention then get this bike, not the copy but the original but be warned, This bike WILL be nicked! There could be a whole bike stand filled with all the best Ebikes and latest and most expensive pedal bikes all without locks on them but the thieves will choose this one.
@e39lover73 Жыл бұрын
@@Kit_Bear I sure do understand how legendary it is 😂 I've never seen a single one in person, anywhere. But I really want to. And as much as I like the bike, the thieving is what I'm most worried about if I buy one, cause not only does it just look awesome, it is awesome
@Kit_Bear Жыл бұрын
@@e39lover73 You'd need a Hiplock D1000 but they are 250 quid. I bought an Abus 6500. I never saw one in my life until I bought one that's how rare they are. Only about 20,000 originals were made for Britain and Vietnam (I think) so you can understand why no-one ever saw one which is why everyone spazzes out when they see one. It's perhaps the first and last time they've ever seen one in person. The Burner was a cultural icon of the 80's and almost every kid had one which is why it's so fondly remembered. I need to buy one for myself. The only downside is the weight. It's a little on the heavier side. One thing you need to remember, only use yellow brake blocks. Never use any other colour they will damage your Skyways.
@e39lover73 Жыл бұрын
@@Kit_Bear Haha ohhh boy, yeah imma need one for sure. But only 20k? Sheesh it really is that rare. I just love the loop trial and color combo on them, but knowing how rare/famous they are it'd be awesome to get one. Never thought they'd be heavy, but hey it's worth it. And yeah the yellow brake blocks are a necessity 😂 do you think you could use clear ones?

I had a BMX in 1984 ...This however this was the one I really really wanted , but my parents couldn't afford it , so had a Falcon pro Beta instead , which I loved ..im now 53 years old , but I'm about to buy this baby boxed I'm finally getting one after 40+ years

Similar story here. I never had a BMX but wanted one. I actually prefer a racer back then, so had a Viking then a Raleigh Pulsar but always wanted a BMX as well. Around 10-15 years ago i bought a Chrome Burner frame, had the Team Burner blue colour sprayed at the front, added the transfers, had the chrome to replace the white. Got a set of Aero Arayas and blue Skyway Tuff IIs as well as the other kit. Don't ride it much but I'm glad I have it !
