You’re really not supposed to go over 5,000 rpm with these transmissions. that’s what i was told. they put a fast engine in a slow car and speeding will break it
@yamilmontes13652 жыл бұрын
I think most of these problems couldve been solved by consistently changing fluids, and making sure the transmissions gets serviced regularly. People like to just leave automatics alone, but that's not what you're supposed to do.

I have a 2005 acura tl when I first take off in first it drive off pretty slow once it's warm it pulls off better but slug only on first. But shifts good all gear. Last night at a light, my car just jumped out of gear. Towed it home. Next morning turn it on when back in to gear. Now I'm assuming it can be transmission control switches, but I'm going to change the fuild first and see what happens. Any suggestions

Anyone can help me with this. I have a 2001 Acura TL and when I put it in sports mode it goes 0-60 so quickly however it only goes to second gear and it keeps reving. So when it’s at 6,000 rpm it’s at 60miles and I’m scared to hit the red line as it sound like it’s gonna explode. Why doesn’t it go to third gear
@kennethmckeel85003 жыл бұрын

If you have check “engine light on “you may have a code for defective or dirty solenoid also a defective neutral switch or contaminated transmission fluid but before anything check all your fuses and relays but most important check your transmission fluid level the right way. warm up the engine run the car for a little while then stop the car for about 30 seconds then check the fluid level. In other automatic transmissions you check the fluid with the engine running all the time but in Acura’s don’t

Transmission coolers save these. Acura started putting cooling lines in the top of the transmission to prevent overheating, so if you plan to buy one of these make sure it has the cooler line to the top of the transmission. Also take it on a good road test to get it through all the gears. 2nd and 3rd on these are the first to go.
@ryantogo83592 ай бұрын
No they don't. They only buy them a little more time. They still fail with coolers

I just noticed your car has 315,000 miles on it. Most other cars would be complete scrap heaps by then. Be glad the only problem is a worn out transmission. By the way, the only difference between a new transmission and a rebuilt one is the outer casing. All the internal parts are replaced either way.
@viyau5 жыл бұрын
Andrew Scotty Kilmer said get a factory remanufactured and not a rebuilt one.
@Andrew-ep4kw2 жыл бұрын
@@viyau I don't know, as I said, a rebuilt replaces just about every part in the tranny that can wear out, so it's effectively a new transmission. Of course, the person doing the rebuild has to know what they're doing, but it they do, I see no difference between a factory rebuilt transmission or one done by a reliable mechanic, provided they know how to rebuild a transmission.

There was a known issue with the transmissions of those models, which were fixed or replaced free of charge if the car had under 100,000 miles. Our 2001 TL had the transmission replaced in 2006 and the new one has worked fine ever since (we currently have 185,000 miles on it). Your car either never had the tranny swap, or was abused by a previous owner. These transmissions are usually rock solid reliable.
@asalott25 жыл бұрын
I have replaced 3 transmissions on the 2 CL's I have owned. The replacement period isnt just mileage based, it is age based. My last one blew out at 99k and Acura did nothing. The replacement just blew out 30k later, Acura will do nothing again.
