at what age should you change the belt? My motor is a 2017 but I only have 7 hours on the motor. I know, it's not even broken in yet but rubber dries out with age.
@britishsouth15 күн бұрын
I am pretty sure the service interval is five years or 300 hours. I changed mine on the age before I hit 300 hours.

How do I store this engine when I turn it over it is leaking oil
@britishsouthАй бұрын
It should be laid down on the rear carry handle prop down. Perhaps your oil plug gasket washer is leaking. try a new washer.

My 1977 MG Midget’s U-Joints would not tap out. The book said to tap them to one side and pull the cap off with your hand. I seriously doubt that was possible when it was new, but there was no way to do it with mine. It was the first time I had that kind of problem. I ended up taking the new U-Joints and the drive shaft to the local drive shaft specialty shop (Cutrite Machine Northlake Driveline). They pressed it to one side, then pressed just the U-Joint back to the other side without the cap. Then they wedged something into the cap that was partially out and pressed it again to that side. It took them just under 2 hours to actually change the two U-Joints.

It took me about five hours of hammering, vice gripping, heat, and kroil to work those caps off

How ofter should you change the belt? Did the old belt show any signs of cracking or being worn?
@britishsouth8 ай бұрын
Yamaha Recommends 7 years/300 hours. The belt was in good shape but the outboard was nearly 10 years old.

Wonder how many wreckers were traveling with them this time?
@britishsouth10 ай бұрын
Luckily, nobody had to call the wrecker. We do have a gag prize for anyone who breaks down on a club trip though. All part of the British car charm, eh?

Sweet adventure , our British club here in East central Ohio gets together for similar rides.we always find a destination that challenges our cars and our bodies. Longest trip 375 miles in one day.
@britishsouth10 ай бұрын
Thank you! Our longest ride was from our home near Baton Rouge to the Brits on the Bay show in Pensacola, Florida. We did scenic roads that totaled up to about 325 miles one way. A great time though, to be sure. Had a few guys from Ohio show up in their MGC's, too!

Good Video, covers the proper way to do a rebuild. I would add inspect the entire length of the brake lines, a MGA has steel lines which will pit replace them with Copper Nickel. I do not know about a MGB.
