Hello great video ! Will you graft in the upper body or not ? Will you put another seperation other than the queen excluder, like a peace of wood for 24 hours or not needed ? Thank you
@apigardАй бұрын
Hello thank you on your support. You can find open brood frame with one day eggs from any hive on the apiary and transplant larvae,I work with Doolittle method and you can find complete instructions for that in my other videos,I'll leave the links below. For separation part other then queen excluder you dont need to use anything else,but If you are begginner go by the book rules: Do everyithing like in the video,just replace the middle regular LR body with LR body 2/3,limit the queen so she cannot pass in to the third LR body where you prepared everything for queen cell raising. Reason why u use LR 2/3 in the middle is that because of the queen she doesnt like to lay brood there,but its perfectly fine If you do it with normal body like in the video,bcs rarely that everybody have LR 2/3 bodies. That water dropper and the zig zag in the wood is a really simple and great idea, fair play. How do you stop the water collecting the pans at the bottom from going stagnant and stinking? 🤔 Avoid using honey if you care about bees. A little while ago, I saw this video and I won't touch the stuff anymore kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ2wf6qVi7RkrtE Also, at about 2:57 are those bits of polystyrene? If so, it's absolutely vile seeing lovely bees around that wretched filth. It's one of THE worst plastics Humans make 🤢🤮

Do you finish filling the hive with frames before closing
@apigard2 жыл бұрын
you can put the finished frames to the end, but the wild swarm builds new frames very well, so we add one frame to build every other day between the open brood all the way to the end of the hive and add 1/1 syrup to help every day about 300ml.(this spring we will make a more detailed video about nurturing new swarms)

It may be convenient to burn cardboard but the smell of the smoke is awful and bees do not like it either. If you can get hold of some, use aromatic Eucalyptus tree bark and leaves instead or pine needles, you will see a big difference.
@MotionArtist3D2 жыл бұрын
Use stainless screws (25mm x 2.5-3mm) instead of staples . They will last longer, won't rust and very easy to remove. If one piece of the frame needs replacing for one reason or the other, it is a pain to remove staples as well as being time consuming which bee keepers do not have much of. No need concern yourself with this if your frames are intended for one time use only.

It depends how big is barell and how do you adjust dripping,also how many hives do you have.This barell in the video is 10 liters and when temperature is high I must refill it every day or two. If you can't go to change water every day I recommend to take a bigger barell.
