These old t135’s (known as P50 previously) are incredible! So much better than what aca has as the new t135 with the flower horn design.

Sad to report this siren, as well as the rest of San Angelo's, have been retired. Walked up to this one yesterday and saw it was disconnected. To make things worse, bees have found home inside the rotator.

I hope they reactivate their sirens. Plus if they do, the bees will probably get cut to shreds......which I don't think is very good for the siren.

To make it worst, the siren fell down and the city hasn't done anything about it, they just left it like that

Why is it so low to the ground and in the middle of nowhere?
@MarcBookPro5 жыл бұрын
It's not exactly in the middle of nowhere. This is the tallest hill around Lake Nasworthy, which has a lot of recreational use. The road around it has residential homes and a lot of joggers. There is a lot more civilization in person than what maps and videos have indicated. I was surprised.

Nope same company. asc bought aca in the 90s. They used some of their designs and rebranded them.

31 23'16.27"N, 100 29'46.75"W here ya go. Yes its off the dirt trail where it splits, its not on the main road where the camp ground is. Its a pretty strategic location considering that how loud the siren is, and its on a hill so it overlooks the entire community below.

(oh boy here comes the rant... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED) Maintenance galore. Its the equivalent of putting a brand new car up on a hill in the forest and then forgetting about it. what eventually happens to it? they rust out, eventually stop running. Same exact thing happens to the chrysler sirens, not to mention the other 50 billion models of sirens. The chrysler sirens were placed in locations so remote (look at LAs system for example) that they were forgotten about, and eventually abandoned. Second, they cost A SHIT TON, about as much as a full size truck back in the 50s. Lastly, the 25 mile range is moot.... if they were lucky, on the downward wail, on the highest hilltop in the area and on a clear day, MAYBE... JUST MAYBE the chrysler sirens were able to be heard for 25 miles MAX, average realistic range, accounting for obstructions like hills, wind to dissipate sound waves, foliage from trees, ambient sounds and buildings, the sirens had a range of 15 miles if that. Also forgot to mention that you had to man the damned things with at least 3 to 4 CD volunteers, so not only did you have to buy and install the siren, every time you wanted to test, run, or maintain the damned thing, you had to pay the poor bastards to hike all the way up to where it was, possibly climb a ladder to the top of a rickety platform, oil it, make sure it didnt run out of gas (which required men to relay gas cans to the siren during operation) and the man to actually operate the clutch engaging the chopper axle. The actual demise of the chrysler sirens was that they went to phone line activated systems, which meant you no longer needed men to actually run the sirens, which then caused them to start rusting, forgetting about oil changes, and general preventative maintenance like making sure the horn screens were not destroyed, or removed allowing birds and other shit into the horn(s) and chopper, make sure protective engine panels, vent covers and wiring trunks were not damaged or stolen, which prevented ingress of water, and making sure the damned things didnt rust by painting them every so often. People just forgot that they required the same maintenance as a car, which obviously i cant stress enough having already mentioned 2 or 3 times before. They need oil changes, fuel, radiator fluid, clutch fluid, rotator reduction gear and transmission fluid, grease on the drive axle, make sure the timing belt was not fraying, cracking, or snapped, make sure the spark plugs were still firing all 8 cylinders, etc.

It is. It's up on a good-sized hill in the middle of a populated area. So pole height doesn't really matter. And I'll check out your vid.
@hawkplaya9411 жыл бұрын
I'd say about 100 feet. It's probably just the speaker distortion from us being so close. We were in an ideal position to get the most powerful sound from this siren.
@amberlynn691411 жыл бұрын
wait...wha????????? Allen took down their P-50s! if you check my channel, there's two more of 'em. One is in Keene, the other in Grand Prarie

One is in Allen, TX close to our other house. That one is operational. The 3rd is in Valera, TX. That one is sitting on the ground in a Army surplus yard just east of town. Those two and this one are the only ones I have seen in the state of Texas. There's definitely more though. Probably Amarillo.
