So I’ve seen other piggyback systems like the Dahler one that’s WAY more expensive, BUT it has a ton of hook ups and it’s own ECU that wires to power and runs multiple sensor data in real time. I feel like this version being SO simple has to be missing some crucial DME data and looks risky, right??

@GoldenFleas3 ай бұрын
Exactly. No advanced tuning. If you want to go that route do the full JB4 module or the like from other manufacturers. I’ve been more than happy with this simple and inexpensive mod nearly 6 months later. I’ve had the JB4 module in other vehicles (video in my playlists). Burger makes a solid product and excellent customer service.

Looks way easier than the JB4 install. I'm waiting for the warranty on my X3M to expire before messing with anything but I had a JB4 on my MK7 Golf R and it was a HUGE improvement. FYI, BMW CAN see that the engine had a piggyback unit on there but unless you have major engine problems, they won't go poking around but it was confirmed by a few BMW techs on Reddit that they can see even tiny changes to boost pressure so it's not a matter of removing it before trying to get warranty work done and fooling them. Your car is constantly feeding telematics data back to BMW so before they even diagnose the problem, they can look back on the historical data from the car and see when it was making more boost than stock before you removed the piggy back unit. Coders are constantly trying to get around not just BMW's detection systems but several other brands' as well but BMW have a team dedicated to this and it's not hard for them to spot red flags when the vehicle is programmed for such tight tolerances. First time I brought my car in for service, they documented the RK intakes and aftermarket exhaust (factory cats still there) but they also scanned my ECU and pulled up the car's telematics data to verify that the ECU was still encrypted and that no parameters had readings outside the norms. I had no idea they did any of this until after the service when the lead tech came out to tell me that it was all documented per BMW's policies so that if anything DOES go wrong, they have that bread crumb trail to get them out of warranty work if I DO mess with the ECU. I got the uneasy impression that the tech was implying that they could still use intakes or a non-resonated mid pipe to still deny warranty work. I'm not here to fear monger or rain on your parade. I'm just passing along info that BMW has told me in case you do decide you want to push the engine further. I think a catted downpipe from AA and an intake would be the only other things I'd be comfortable doing if I were you until the warranty is up. They will know. They already know you're making more boost than stock but basically nothing can hurt the B58 as long as the factory turbo is left alone. Worst case scenario is just some crappy gear shifts.

Thanks for this feedback much appreciated! Have had the JB4 in the past also on other vehicles. Big improvement. This is much simpler/quicker install to get some pretty decent hp increases.
