Great video. Your example uses 20 years. Does the amount of time a factor in RR? The RR likelihood changes as the total exposure changes? I ask as many studies on PubMed are meta-analyses discussing for example, RR of alcohol consumption for a negative outcome, but the meta-analysis aggregates many studies over many different time periods. Is a relative risk of 1.06 a 6% increase in risk compared to a control group for having a single drink, or a single drink per day over a year for example? The meta-analysis mentions the 1.06 but not the time period.

Hi Terry, can you explain how a hierarchical composite differs from a composite? Recently there was a trial published in NEJM using a hierarchical composite and the endpoint failed to reach statistical significance. This is different from previously published data, and I wondering how/if the hierarchical component may be influencing the results. Thanks.

Wow! This should be the top video when you look up this concept. Super concise! Thank you so much!
I'm trying to interpret a HR (Hazard Ratio) study done on smoking tobacco. The study looked at non-smokers vs. pipe tobacco smokers over the course of, like, 30 something years. For non-smokers, the HR was 1.0 (control group) For pipe smokers, the HR was 1.2 I'm interpreting this as "A pipe smoker is 20% more likely to get _some_ kind of cancer or complication due to pipe smoking, versus a non-smoker for that same cancer." But my question becomes: Is there a reliable HR study that shows non-smokers, pipe tobacco smokers, cigarette smokers, cigar smokers, and vape users? Thank you. Very easy to follow.
