Great video, and I appreciate the cycling references. I'm an endurance cyclist and look forward to moving there and exploring. I ride road, gravel, and mountain. My personal favorite is vintage roadbikes. Did you ever ride Eroica? The more I see of Paso the more I long to move.

Thanks for the excellent video. My fiancée and I are currently living in Washington state, but are looking to move to Paso in the next 1-2 years. We have been looking to buy land in advance to build on, but it is looking more as if we will buy a home already established when the time comes. I have lived in several areas on both coasts, and have been to all 50 states, and I lived in California for 16 years before I moved to Washington. I am well travelled and an American geography expert. I know California very well, and have visited every county. California is very important to me. With that background I say this: SLO county is the sweet spot. Save me a place. Every place has plusses and minuses and SLO is not for everyone, but it is for us. The only downside of course is the terrible housing supply/demand ratio and thus it is very expensive. But worth it, for us at least. Thanks again for the video. It would be better without the background music though.

I live in SLO and some of the homes are really nice but the new developments which are all cookie cutter homes are nothing but eye sores. Too small, waaay overpriced for what they are, and a yard so small you can barely fit a patio furniture set in. If you want an example look at the new development off of Madonna Rd where Ernie Delidio had his farm. Those homes are so close together you can hear your neighbor snore at night. The more these cookie cutter homes get built, the more SLO loses its charm.

Those born in SLO never paid any attention to districts. It is just something to sell the goods. The term China Town was used, where restaurants, Ah Louis store is, and Chong's , where people purchased hand made candies. The rich lived up the hill at Ferrini Heights, and if you lived in the Railroad District, you lived near the tracks, and not far from downtown, which in the past had all the big name chain stores, including Woolworth, JC Penny, Sears, Wards, Coronet's, National Dollar, and more. Going back, before my time, Buchon St. house many well to do people in Victorian styled two story homes. Some are nicely done. Poorer people lived near Meadow Park area, where once was a race track. Stay far away from the college area, should you wish to sleep at night.

I now live in Ventura and get up to SLO a few times a year to visit, attend Cal Poly events, and go visit my brother who lives in Morro Bay. Most million dollar homes in SLO are possibly worth as much as a third that, and some less. It is all in the game. Fortunately SLO homes may only lose a third value come a depression, being a retirement area of the rich. I guess a 333,000 loss is not too bad compared to 500,000. ;)

21 👍 Putting some fun into the real estate business. Having traveled all over the US, SLO would be my choice of location if I were to leave the east coast. Your town has everything. The only downside is the affordability factor. (For me, it would be a tossup between Mill St. and the RR District. Either is an easy walk to a vibrant downtown and Scolari’s.) Vibrant downtown? Really? This is post 70's, and the real downtown SLO left the scene. Just the old buildings remain, tourists and some university students. Not to say loads of bars not present. The fifties and sixties were a wonderful time for SLO. We live in the now, and not the past. Good luck with your Agenda21 plans for everyone, as I am out. Aside of the homeless, it may remain a great place / area, for tourist to visit. They can take-in many sites, and wonder how it was back-when. The Old Mission is a good visit. The downtown architecture pretty cool. To think that at one time they were not vacant, or not a bar is something of which the tourist will never know. It is like Avila Beach was at one time not looking like it was a Disneyland theme park, but rather a funky beach town. BTW, they are in the process of screwing-up all the streets in SLO -- way to go! Great history, without a doubt, but the whole enchilada is now wrongly baked.

@@lorenschwiderski I haven’t been back to SLO for ten years. Sad to hear the updated conditions of downtown. From what I see virtually on KZbin, most of California is taking the same route as your city.. When I lived in the Bay Area In the ‘60’s, California was “where it’s at.” Thank you for the heads up. I’ll hold on to my Massachusetts real estate in spite of the winters.

@@djoldskool5763 North County SLO is great and Morro Bay, if you can afford the housing, is much the same as it was in the 60's. Agenda21 and the socialists, so far, have yet to take Morro Bay. North County cities are nice -- friendly, and down to earth people, but the population is growing. Possibly growing too fast for traffic management. I do enjoy Paso Robles and Templeton as in going back in time -- a time traveler place. Once again, growth of all of SLO county is leading to traffic getting clogged. So far though it is not terrible -- just saying there are early warning signs, as traffic in some hours will crawl. The city of SLO has its points, and is a nice location. Just beware it is an Agenda21 city, as is Atascadero -- if you like the UN planning, then go for that too.
