I've now since retired from working on Thomas as of 2021. Plus I think the choice to have new items in the reboot would have to go through production first.

Compared to Lego: Model layouts have no instructions because they have to be built in limited space with the area of the house. Call me a coward but I rather know what I'm building before taking it apart and expanding or scaling down the set 😅

Looking back on the original 1959 Railway Modeller article, I noticed a few changes in your 1956 operation, particularly the second section After Percy collects all his wagons, it states in the article: “Then Percy draws his train out with no brake van, and backs down on the quarry line where a further load is attached. He leaves at 12.25….” but I notice you never do that on your operation The article also states that Percy *waits* for Thomas to come back at 12.16 before departing at 12.25, but you always let Percy leave first before Thomas returns, contradicting the timetable Is there any reason for this?

At the time I wasn't sure exactly. There was no mentioning that Percy would bring his brake van with him to the quarry line in the first sequence as well as what was coupled to his train while waiting for Thomas to arrive at the end of the 2nd. I have been given a copy of the original sequence cards for Ffarquhar MrkI from 1965 which, after reading through several times does feel a lot more fun and we did try it roughly at the layout's last show, despite areas of the layout that couldn't perform it. So this is why I'm renovating Ffarquhar for its 10 year anniversary, to allow it to perform this new sequence.

Hopefully gearbox will be reliable. Can't remember if last one had drive extender or not though. Why these changes to layout needed though, just your ideas on what to improve or?

Well it's more renovation as well as improvements for operation. It's just to allow better operation work to be made to the layout that I sometimes had troubles with. Percy's goods for example is one of these. So the changes to help work with it will be a big help. Plus some areas of scenery need tidying and completed as there are some areas I've missed that need looked at.

Yes, the original card building got worn out during its time and so a replacement was bought.

Do we know what bogies Awdry used for his saloons? I’ve bought the Peco Parkside diamond frame bogie kits (PA125) and they just don’t look right to me. I also noticed the saloons have a bit of underframe detail as well, but I have no idea what he used I’m making my own saloon coaches too, but they aren’t exact replicas. If you could help provide some information on the things I’ve mentioned, that would be helpful. Thanks

@@MrNoUsername The bogies and under frame parts came from the shop Hamblings. A lot of engine parts came from them, but sadly the firm is no longer in business. For my replicas I'm using Bachmann MkI Bogies and scrap bits from kits.

@@christopherbellamy639 A model of Terence does make an appearance on my Ffarquhar layout, but he is only part of it for a while till I get all the required road vehicles gathered. Bertie, Toad and Harold did not feature on the original layout, but I have made models of Bertie and Harold for Branch Line Engines (Whenever I get back to that project), They won't be part of the Ffarquhar layout.
