Great work! A bold departure from the other versions I know

A song of the past marking the passing of the jacobites failed attempt to overcome the government forces in an attempt to restore the young Stuart prince to the throne. The highlanders were punished for many years after, they couldn’t bare arms, wear their colours(tartan) and many were pushed off their land.

Beautiful version of one of my favorite folk songs. I enjoyed the introduction and spoken verse too. I have a cover of it on my channel, too, though mine's fairly basic and much less ambitious :) Subscribed!

This version of the song is a true gem. The haunting melancholy tone calling for the end of the series of conflicts is so fitting.

This song is the equivalent of telling the Ukrainians to stop fighting and laying down belly up. Fight for your freedom or be erased.

Is it though? The Jacobites were supporters of a deposed regime that did not share the values of the majority of the population, who in trying to reestablish said regime were essentially just killing people to accomplish something that no one wanted and that didn't have a hope of success with many attempts over the course of 60 years. The song is asking them to stop starting pointless wars. Not quite the same as telling someone not to fight back.
