Perfect for smaller knives, quench in water not oil

It depends on how the metal responds if it’s mystery steel I always test quench it first. oil if it’s not hard water if it’s not hard after water you can try air but I haven’t had much luck with that tho i would just find a different material lol

You’re not the first guy I’ve seen on KZbin make a knife out of these wheels. If I was gonna try it, I’d toss that wheel on the next bonfire I had to fully anneal it before trying anything with it. I was looking at the sparks when you were wheel cutting it and it looks like it’s pretty hard steel

Love the look of this knife. Do you sell them if so how would someone be able to get ahold of you to buy one or what the price of this or possibly other knives be ? Just wondering… I would be interested if you do sell them. Thanks

Hello Strategic Outdoors, Happy New Year to you and yours. This video just popped into my feed and I’m glad it did! You’ve got a cool little shop setup and it’s refreshing ( and a testament) that you are demonstrating that one doesn’t need a zillion dollars worth of equipment (or a fancy space) in order to pursue their craft! The basics always work when the basics are done right! You can upgrade tooling as your skills, dedication and funds allow, if one so desires…. I’m into axes but appreciate knifemaking too! Keep up the great work, and I’ve subbed. Looking forward to more content. Best wishes, Shawn

I reckon this in a mild steel ‘taco’ build would be fantastic. Fantastic shape, great experiments to determine the best process for heat treatment.

Holy shit, I mean you re chopping wood with it, and ice and still a strap. Wtf!!!🤷‍♂️ how is it not good enough steel? People who say that, are dont want people making their own knives.

Thanks for the video. I have some concrete blades, and I was wondering if they would make good knives. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks.

You mean you are putting this knife in the oven to draw some hardness out? Amirite? That´s called tempering. Other than that an excellent video.

I’m one of those guys who likes cutting his lawn and I keep my mower blades sharp as a kitchen knife this achieves two things , it makes a clean cut on your grass promoting growth and makes your motor work less hard prolonging the life of your mower
@Billy-burner
@Billy-burner 8 ай бұрын
Having mower Blades sharp like a kitchen knife isn't necessary since it'll just go blunt instantly, and it's just down right dangerous. The most crucial part for a mower blade is to have a sharp 90 degree edge since that does all the cutting.

I did 5 knives from concrete saw blades so far and had to Aneal the handle because I could not drill through it with a Cobalt drill bit and that was from two different blades . If it was not hardened I should have not had so much trouble with drilling the handle with a brand new quarter inch Cobalt drill bit would that be correct
