The forces above will never be able to re-can the worms. Certainly here in the UK the people are too feral to re-submit themselves to lockdown. I remember seeing growing numbers of people sneakily and later flagrantly breaching the social distancing and lockdown rules during the long course of lockdowns 2 and 3.

A fine march in an opera with a gruesome ending . . . like Mussorgsky's "Khovanschina"! One wonders if there was a competition amongst mid-19th Century opera composers to see who could produce the goriest conclusion!

I Haven't been to Paisley in a long time, but I'm always a little sad to see what the town has become. It still has some beautiful old buildings, but much of the place is left to decay (like so many other Scottish towns) and the changing demographics make it less welcoming (again, the same as many other Scottish towns).

True. One has to be almost a professional photographer to sift and seek out the chinks of beauty amidst the gloom and deterioration.

@@standrean Indeed, much like life. I often view videos and photographs of old Britain to see what went before. It is more often than not a bittersweet experience. This is a charming little restored video of Scotland many moons ago:kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5KanqdvfLlqZ5Ifeature=shared

Heartbreaking news: last week our beloved cat was run over by a speeding car just outside the house. This is the FOURTH cat in our family that's been mowed down on a residential street these past few years. Is it any wonder that the dog owners round here keep their pooches locked indoors all day, and leave the poor creatures to bark insanely at the window all the day long whilst they're out at work. I cannot refrain from also saying that EV cars are some of the worst offenders, with way too much initial acceleration and torque.

By George, what have we here? It takes a skill indeed to go up and down the octave; myself a piano player decades old, I know all too well how challenging it is to play at this speed even with 45 keys. Accordion, concertina, harmonica -- they're all surely challenging and certainly require the 1000s of "man-hours" to master in their own ways! It pays to note that my late Nan was a Domina harmonica player and a maestro musician. Endearingly, as a child, I would watch her play the ole (what we call a Christmas Worm) just before Christmas and long after New Year's. I bet this one was of the smaller type? Some are humongous -- and here, the player is quite the avid musician, especially since the multi-dexterous cadences of his/her (I'm betting heads that's a male accordionist!) speaks well to years and years, if not decades, of practice. And it makes it all the more difficult to know you can't silently "cheat" when playing the odd notes of dissonance or discord -- even soft playing is rather noticeable. So, game on! Of equal mention are my French roots from both parents. Pure Anemoia, the nostalgia of a place I've never encountered. Hearing this is something arresting, in the spirit that says Welcome Home.

My sentiments also. Looking back now, I'm so glad I happened to be carrying my camera that same morning, such a remarkable coincidence that I could not resist pressing Record and enjoying the music on what was otherwise a rather dull journey through east Glasgow.

I think at the time when this was recorded, Elgar was deeply despressed. Because the premire of the piece was a flop. and he quoted on this topic. im paraphrasing "I opened my heart to the public once, and they wont let me have a decent hearing of my music, now my heart is now shut to all feeling". Like imagine putting your entire being into something, and it being brushed off like its nothing. That would tear out a mans soul/motivation/willpower.

I was hoping to make a pilgrimage to Requiem for a Fool (now I'm a 40-year-old virgin) as I believe that video greatly changed my life. But I understand why you removed your content. Thanks for all the vids over the years, they were a great comfort when I was in a very low place.

Glad to read that my videos were in some way beneficial. However, two years ago I made a conscious decision to purge all my personal videos describing my unemployment, social inadequacy and inceldom, not least because my nieces and nephews are now in high school and I don't want them being targeted on account of my online content. Obviously I'm still dateless and retain my V card, but frankly I've accepted that one cannot have everything in Life, that in many other aspects I am more fortunate than most people our generation.

Hey Malcolm I am wondering what are thought on AI. I notice there lot of ai girlfriend being marketed toward men do you think this could change society for the better, this could be an interesting video.
@standrean5 ай бұрын
I would stay clear of any AI chatbots - it's just the next level in online dating. Dodgy companies and crooks will charge exorbitant prices and in the end these fake conversations amount to time and money being poured down a digital black hole. As you know, AI girlfriends now exist in abundance and to access them costs the user a LOT of money.

@@Agustinoism No, because it will never be the real thing. I've long accepted that romantic intimacy shall always be the one thing that is missing in my life. Incidentally, dating sites are apparently losing their corporate value as they lose customers who have become disgruntled with disappointing experiences, according to this article www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/article/2024/aug/17/dating-apps-decline-bumble-tinder

@standrean5 ай бұрын
This is where I have to show my three-quarters Scottish identity and admit that this appears to be an English problem which I cannot fully understand - although even I can see that the media are spinning narratives and jumping to their own conclusions quicker than gossiping office ladies. One thing I will say though is that 99 per cent of people resident in England have NOT rioted, have not participated in this civil unrest.

Hello. Where can I find those book reviews you made?
@standrean6 ай бұрын
That's a very good question. Unfortunately, with the exception of the fourth series which I produced during the early months of 2021, I cannot restore these videos as they are replete with copyright-infringing music segments and borrowed imagery. These days I lack the time to reprocess these reviews satisfactorily.
