Nice job Lee. Installing drywall is so gratifying, as it really transforms the space. I never got good at taping and floating though.

What’s the change of plans ?
@reverendontheroad.pastorbrinda23 сағат бұрын
We decided to build a larger kitchen between the cottages. We were going to build a full bathroom between the cottages but decided to move the bathroom to where Lee began the sheet-rocking instead. Until the interior of the cottages are finished, there is room for flexibility in our plans.

Hi Lee. This may be an optical illusion, but it appears as though your trailer wheel has shifted quite a bit to the rear. The Ubolts may have come loose and allowed the axle to shift rearward along the leaf spring. If so, it could be really dangerous on the road.

Yes! Your dub over reminds me of the old black and white Japanese Godzilla movies from when we were kids. 😂 Maybe a wire rope with a turnbuckle tying the side wall sole plates would be an unobtrusive temporary fix? I use them for all kinds of projects (fences, guy wires, tarp curtains and such). I even invested in one of those high pressure ferrule crimpers.

@reverendontheroad.pastorbrinda16 күн бұрын
Yes, the kitty ramp leads to the RV window for Freddie and Eclipse to be able to go in and out on their own, It leads into the fence area that has 8 foot chicken wire walls. The downside is that the 3 littlest kittens climb the chicken wire and get into the pen area and use the ramp also. Thanks for the encouragement.

From the size of the tank, it sounds as though you’re getting an aerobic septic system? Septic installers like to sell them because they’re high profit. There are other options that may be better for your application. Aerobic systems can be maintenance prone. There is allot to consider, especially because you once mentioned plans for a pond and proximity to an existing stock tank on an adjacent property. Are you on a well? If so, how far away is your well head, or that of your neighbors? Also, the depth of the tank may be an issue due to the distances to the bathroom(s) and kitchen. It sounds like there is to be a bath house… will there be a master bath adjacent to your living quarters? The typical house has one waste line stub, whereas you may have two or more. Also, if you want to hook up the RV, it looks to be fairly far from where the tank is located. Maintaining fall to that tank can be problematic on longer distances. It forces the tank deeper and requires quite a bit more excavation and a riser extension. Let me know if you want to discuss this further and we can email or even exchange phone numbers.

Lee, when you’re jump starting that lawn tractor, I think you have to manually press down on the safety switch mounted under the seat. I know this because we had that same or a very similar craftsman model for many years. I had to simultaneously hold down the switch, press the brake and turn the key. Sadly, that mower finally died and I had to get a new machine. 😢
@bobdavis7484Ай бұрын
Nice job! Hope this one doesn’t degrade like the last one. We’ve had a similar issue with a supposedly UV resistant tarp that only lasted 3 months before disintegrating. Texas weather can be brutal!

Happy Thanksgiving you two! You might want to try using batter boards on the next cottage build. Basically it’s three stakes at each corner with horizontal boards that you can use with nails to tie your lines to square things up without having to reposition your stakes. Even with batter boards it’s no fun doing it by yourself. 😂

Oh, and that 10 AWG extension cord is dangerous… 50-amp circuits require a 6 AWG copper wire (or a 4 AWG aluminum wire). That 10 AWG might work for a very minimal load, but lighter gauge and greater distance is a disaster waiting to happen. As soon as you draw higher amps it is in overload and will get extremely hot. I would prioritize getting that permanent line run to the RV. For that, I would definitely rent a Ditch Witch for the trenching. It will save your backs!!!

I agree, it can definitely seem like a hostile environment! We have tons of locust, mesquite and cacti all over the low lying areas of our central Texas ranch. The place was extremely overgrown and thorny when we got it. We had to clear allot just to put in fences, roads and set the place up for cattle.
