Yes you can but to be honest it is not a spey line design. The better solution for small rivers and spey casts would be eighter Scientific Anglers SBT or Amplitude Smooth Creek trout

@@stefanschmid5531 Agree. Creek Trout a great line. I underline by one though, it's very heavy.

@stefanschmid55316 ай бұрын

What is the rod and line rating you are using on the single hander? What is the total head weight of the line with the tip?
@stefanschmid55317 ай бұрын
it is the Scott Swing 9ft7 line 7 and the 16 Gram Head adn 5 Gram Tip Head length 4.9meter tip lenth 2.7m

@@stefanschmid5531 Is that not really heavy for a 7 weight?😟

no as it is a Switch Rod and it carries with ease

@@rangerwhite5165 I use this line system with a 10ft 7wt guideline NT11 14g body and 12ft 7g tip (in grains it's 216gr with 110gr tip) and it casts beautifully. For Spey casting typically you use grain/g weight of line that is 2 sizes larger than the aftma rating. So a 7wt single hand rod for Spey casting needs a 9wt rated line (with correct taper) to be an effective single hand Spey setup. Crazy complicated I know. However if you have a fast action modern graphite rod I would say for a 7wt you should be anywhere between 260gr to 300gr would be ideal. If you have any questions reply to me here and I will help you as best I can :)

Where your yellow pliers/hemostats are I would put my tippet. I’ve noticed Simms doesn’t give you any details where to put your tippet caddy. I like Orvis that installs tippet holders and it’s very intuitive.

Hi This is not possible with a full lenth Zip. You cannot buil in a inner collar like this. And a waterproof pocket this style would not be possible as well. This means pockets would be smaller.

^^ LG
