I’m seeing many people who did a bachelors go back and do things like RDH, and I wanted to ask, do you feel like your bachelors was a good thing to have going into DH school? I’m working in research right now with my bachelors and I’ve been there for almost a year and I’m feeling burnt out and wanting a career change where I’ll be paid more. I have my 2nd consultation in a few days. I went for a consult when I was 19 years old and decided to wait until after I had children. Fast forward 20+ yrs. I’m 47, and have been going through some perimenopausal symptoms. I’ve had 3 children and am so ready. More concerned with being healthy for the surgery and prepared for the recovery.

I had a very easy process for insurance luckily bc i had no way to pay for it otherwise. I also didnt want to rush into it so my surgeon i knew and was in network i got lucky that way. he had a financial coordinator who told me to get information and dr recs together which i was able to do quickly by meeting with my primary care dr and my OB and a chiropractor! Bc i got all that info together my insurance did approve my reduction and im so happy about it! I'm going to pay AT MOST $2k but probably less and my surgery will cost over $12k! My surgery isnt until middle of august though bc i wanted to enjoy the summer first bc no pools/ocean's for months after surgery.

I purchased Dental Hygiene Seminar which was about the same price that you paid for. I also ended up purchasing the Andy RDH app that was $17 on Apple Store. The practice questions that were on that app were by far the most closely similar to the NDHBE questions. I passed it on my first attempt 🎉

I heard you said you have biology degree, did you get it from different college? Because I am in a college that doesn’t have the dental hygiene program. And to apply I need to take prerequisites courses. So I want to ask if I should choose biology as a major first and take the prerequisite courses first then apply? I actually don’t want to spend 4 years major in biology😢, It’s hard and I want to get in the program fast since it will be another four years.

I do have a biology degree because I thought I wanted to go into research, so that’s why I have the degree - but I would talk to your advisors and the advisors at the hygiene programs you’re trying to apply to

I was a biology major before. I recommend what she says, talk to advisors of the school you want to go to and ask about their pre-reqs. I feel like I waisted years in college by taking classes for a major I didn’t complete, when I switched to hygiene. So don’t waste your time like me 😢

You will probably have to study longer. That’s what my previous boss (a dentist) said. He had to study longer than his classmates due to translating and defining many concepts to himself. But you can do it 😀. Also, if you need to take the TEAs exam for entry into a program, make sure you are studying their English and Reading sections a lot.

Same here. It makes me nervous being a mom and juggling life but pull on those strengths… think about how strong you are by being a mom! You can time manage, you can multitask, you have life experience, you’re used to having drool, spit and food on you and getting nibbled on. lol you got this!

Hello! Does AndyRDH covers Canadian National DH boards as well? I recently took my first attempt and studied as much as I can, finish studentRDH and even some of the Darby and case studies and purchased all sample website questions from fdhrc but still failed the exam. I dont even know how to start studying again. 😭😭

I got my surgery a year an a half ago I feel like they are still kind of big because they settle in with the size but now I’m trying to lose the weight soo they can lift because once the swelling went down I’m like ok they are smaller but still big at the same time it’s a mentally draining process they don’t stay high and perky 😢

I needed to wear the sport bras for 6 weeks 24/7 . I didn’t want to take them off it hurts to much. I still sleep with a lose sports top on. I still need the small amount of support at night. I am 3 months post surgery

thank you!! my doctor wanted me drinking more water than normal cause it really helps with healing and having my Stanley with me at all times really made a difference!
