Thank you! I'll be selling at a local small popup market. It was cheap for a booth and beside: stickers, bookmarks. I could not for the life of think of other things beside postcard sized prints!

I tried to join the discord server but the Google doc survey is broken. I'm also surprised that this discord server is so strict. Perhaps to protect artists? It would be nice to have some common areas I can view without having to be an fully active member.

I find having a good mix between original art and fan based art is good at conventions I think it’s nice to grow your fan base with original art but also need to cover booth fees etc that’s where the fan art element helps financially.

Basically with the sheet you can’t guarantee people get the info but you can guarantee that they wont lose it With the cards you can guarantee they get it but not guarantee they wont lose it

Its a very low chance you’ll see this but i plan on doing an artist alley after my different series ideas get enough attention so maybe i can sell art of my characters. I was also thinking of maybe putting up some papers at my booth with my different characters and where you could find more about them. Is this a good idea or no?

Makes no type of sense to look at the IP you mentioned in your video, when you telling people we have to join a server ( ppl don’t feel comfortable joining a server) and it’s taken 3 god damn weeks just to enter. You should be ashamed of yourself. I hate people like you.

This might be a very dumb question, but how much should you pay your table helper? A friend of mine offered to help me and even though they said they don't need to be payed, I still want to pay them properly! However, I really don't know what would be a propper/good amount of payment? I would ask my friend themselves what they want to get payed for it but they have a habit of under selling themselves and asking for less than they should get for their work. So I really want to make sure I dont under pay them!

Do i still need to sign my prints even when my signature is on the art itself?? I always sign my artworks, so this has been something many have not talked about. if its already signed on the art itself, do i still have to sign it in person?

I've been considering trying to apply for some artist valley for a while now. I'm planning on at first selling some A4 and A5 prints and some stickers at first. The thing is tho that I only draw Zelda fanart so that'll really narrow down my potential customers. Maybe I could do some pride stuff or meme stuff as well.

Another tip is to order/print multiple smaller illustrations on a large sheet (A3 for exemple) and then cut them out individually yourself, with an x-acto knife and a metal ruler or a guillotine cutter or trimmer. This will save you money since it unites several orders and designs into one. You could even have the same design several times on the same bigger sheet to get more units of that design.

Hi, how should you price your artwork? And should you paint over a painting that you did many years ago were you can see the paint lines or lack of fullness 🥺🖼 thanks ✌️

Thanks so much for posting this!! I’m interested in selling handmade press-on nails with original artwork and some fan art. I’ve read that some conventions don’t allow selling of soaps, makeup, and food. But I’m wondering if press-on nails fall under the makeup category? I messaged anime expo, so I’ll see what they have to say! But curious to see if anyone else might have an answer or experience with this :)

I was just talking to my partner about how someone needs to do this!! I don't do nail art but it would be SO cool to see someone selling themed press-on nails. At big conventions you would make a killing! I would think that nails would be considered a craft. Makeup, soaps, food all can expire or house bacteria (I think), which is why I imagine you aren't allowed to sell them. Press-ons wouldn't have that problem. You could also hand out little illustrated instruction cards for the best way to apply/preserve the nails.

Once there was a table & 3 different artists shared it with eachother. I knew one of them from instagram and wanted to say hi & buy some of her art but this other artist (who shared a table with her) glared at me, like I just ruined his day. I ended up quickly buying some of her prints & didn't dare to talk to her. So I guess two things: there ARE many socially awkward people there and you shouldn't glare at people😭 (My social anxiety was a lot worse back then which has probably also a lot to do with this but still) But now I'm excited to watch this video because I'll have my first ever artist booth at a convention this week & I'm so nervous ughhhh

Hey there. Thank you for the video. I do have a question about packaging art prints. All videos I can find are about preparing them for shipping, and I am not sure if that method always works out so well for cons, aspecaly for bigger sizes. Also, where to get packaging materials and should I provide my customers with bags and should I also prize those, since I would also pay to get them?

What I like to do is: -Stand as much as can -Nod and smile if I make eye contact with someone. -if someone is looking at my stuff I make small talk & make it all about them. Examples: "How are you? You enjoying the convention? I love your cosplay (if they're wearing one) " -if they ask about my art I give them my info without coming off as pushy or try to show them artwork that might lean towards their interests. -whether they buy something or not and they leave, I smile and tell them to enjoy the rest of their day.

I second the choice advice so much! I often prefer fewer choices where its easy and fast to see what a person is selling. I feel subcontious about holding a line while browsing a big selection, so a 10-25 variety of choices is my favorite to browse. Heck recently when I was buying a print (the artist having 3 for sale) while they were finding a copy of it for me, I decided to also buy one of the other prints. Fewer good polished choices can sometimes lead to a client buying one of everything ^^

The Google doc in the description can’t be accessed anymore unless you join a discord server. But you can only join if you’re already someone who has drawn for an artist alley (as far as I’m aware), which is a little bad for people who just got into wanting to draw fanart :( is there another document or site that you can recommend?

Hey im an artist however i got a lot of troubles deciding with how much to bring. like Stickers how many designs should i do consequently con after con. i just try to do like at least 15 new desings but i just stress myself out way too much. i feel like my stuff will get old quickly
@FireflyRaye
@FireflyRaye Жыл бұрын
Hey! This is something I have also struggled with in the past. For me, I always try to have 2 - 3 new designs for the next convention. Honestly, this number will depend on how many conventions you are going to each year. If you go to a con a month, you probably don't need to push out too many new designs between cons. If you go to only a couple cons a year, you will likely have more time to make new designs. But even if you go to the same, one convention year after year, you probably don't need to worry too much about having an abundance of new designs. There are always new attendees that have never seen your work before, and people who have seen your work in previous years may suddenly decide the next year to buy something from you. Many of my best selling works are from 6+ years ago. Our art may seem to get old fast to us, because we're our own worst critic, but to most attendees your work will remain fresh for many years.

When most of the things you like are in that gray zone of could causes issues with the IP but you see EVERYWHERE it's very confusing. Like spy x family, there has been a few accounts on the server saying they got taken down yet when I look around I see so much people selling fanart online and cons.

Btw some cons don't allow outdoor food even if you're a vendor, so ask first if you can bring a certain food item that you can eat or due to medical issues you can't eat what's inside the con. I did spoke with someone managing the con for STX comic con and said that if you have a certain allergy or something just send them a picture of the certain food items you'll be bringing so they can notify the staff about it.

This is so relieving to see someone says just sell what you like to draw. One of my family says to make fanarts or sth that people like. But as I draw the art, I become more frustrated. Thank you so much on sharing your knowledge in this video!
