Thank you! Something I don’t understand is how long you're supposed to wait in between different shades of colour so that they don't completely bleed into each other/cancel each other out because the bottom layer of colour is still too wet?
@alwayswanderingartАй бұрын
If you don’t want to combine / blend colour then you can feel the paper and if it is cool to the touch then it is still wet. Usually it takes about 5 minutes to dry completely, give or take, depending on temperature / humidity.

Karel here so calming. My favorite color is green. The tip I got was the shadows depicting what's there. I have trouble with shadow so I'll remember that. Shadows can add so much drama. Thanks

Thank you Karel. Hope to do a video on just shadows sometime!

Where is the value study? It seems you jumped straight into painting !

The value study appears in the video multiple times. The video is about working from a value study. It is not about how to create a value study. Good suggestion though, thank you

Hi Karel here I really liked your tip about leaving some white in the farm equipment for freshness. I tend to fill in too much. I also like the way you rendered the big tractor tires. Dot dot dot. The shadow tip was helpful also of following lay of land. I really enjoyed this. Thanks

Late afternoon I love the glow. I still get confused with perspective but I have a pretty good eye so my drawing o.k. I measure angles with pencil outside. I use a protractor inside but I don't know why I don't understand where to put the vanishing point. Great demo Karel here
@alwayswanderingart5 ай бұрын
Thanks Karel! You can put the vanishing point anywhere on the horizon line, but then your objects need to meet the vanishing point or at least be pointed in that general direction so the vanishing point will determine how those objects are arranged.

Karel here for those of us afraid of cutting in paper do you think a little titanium white would be o.k?

Hi Karel. Yes, I’ve used titanium white for additional touch-ups like snowflakes, etc. Definitely OK to use unless you’re entering the painting in a show with specific rules.

One of my very first paintings was supposed to be a scene looking up at the sun at high noon with some passing clouds with their silver linings. The problem was I got the sky colour wrong and it seriously looked like a moonlit cloudscape. It was a very popular one but I never did more and sold that one when I was moving and had to get rid of all my paintings.
