My mother and her family attended the World's Fair. She had just turned 11 years old and the family was visiting relatives in New York so they all went and my mother remembered it so vividly. Mom passed a year ago in November at the age of 95 but her twin sister, my Aunt Mary is doing great at 96! I just spoke with my Aunt Mary last week about the fair and she also has such a vivid memories of of the hope and Enchantment of the entire fair.

Thank you so much for this. I am about to finish E.L. Doctorow's memoir "World's Fair" and this is such a wonderful gift to help my imagination envision it.

The old Turnpike road can still be seen going through Sideling Hill on satellite images. IMAPs if you go to the Sidelinlng Hill travel plaza, follow the road east about 1/2 mile or so you will see a split in the road. That is the old turnpike road that leads directly to the tunnels. You can follow all the way to Breezewood and see where the old road joins the new road. I’m not sure why I find this so fascinating but I figured I’d share in the case someone else may be interested.

This is so cool. My Dad would have been 11 at the time. He and his parents made road trips as far south as Virginia. They lived in Mahoning County Ohio. My Mom would have been 12. Her Dad took road trips to a whole new level, taking his family every summer to a different State by car. My Mom, her Brother, and parents saw places I could only dream of. But we did see the pictures. 😊

I know that Jack Chick held to many false teachings like his support for Zionism. Nonetheless, those tracts are previous.

I still believe in Christ as my savior. I feel Jesus came to save all including gay's Lesbian's and Transsexual People. I believe in a woman's right to chose and think Trump and the Religious Right are crazy. Only God Judges us and all the bible says about abortion is it was sanctioned by God if a child was unwanted. Jesus never mentioned it. Thanks.

I come across this video again every few years, this is such a great snapshot of history... the fact there is a Studebaker in it makes it even better! As I recall from another clip the Studebaker was owned by the posters parents.

Amazing that skyline in 1930. I grew up in Miami in the 60s and the skyline grew from the 30s a lot. I went to my sons apartment in the Beach in 2024 and driving back to Miami I told how sorry I was that Miami now its just another scrappy Chicago skyline. No longer the beautiful tropical Miami I knew in the late 60s.
