That gun is on sale today for $100 … so buy it or not?
@KarKraftsmanАй бұрын
For $100 that's a steal. It really is a good gun even though I like full metal guns just for everyday use because they hold up a little bit better if you're just spraying a couple things here and there it's absolutely worth it. Go for it

I noticed at the beginning you show the Black Widow in your hand with a 1.3 tip. They came with a 1.7 so can you help on where you received it ?? Thanks for the video. My Grand Prix is an 2008 and I was thinking about the front and rear bumpers and repainting those. Again Thanks, Steve
@KarKraftsman3 ай бұрын
So when I first made the video they either came the 1.3 or the 1.7 tip I haven't gone back and looked recently to see if they still have those two options. The 1.7 tip would be more for primer or thicker paints, the 1.3 is for base coat and clear

That was very smooth spraying. I have a question, what is the reason of seeing bubbles? I sprayed like 10 coats of gloss polyurethane on a flat wood table and bubbles keep coming up? The temperature inside my garage is good 80f, is it the guns that I have or maybe i have to adjust the guns? I put the air pressure to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50psi and bubble keep coming up 😮

Great video. A word of advice. When blowing, tacking or spraying, ALWAYS work from the air intake toward the exhaust. It keeps trash and overspray flowing in the right direction. Thanks for the black widow videos. I think I'm going to get one.

YOU GUYS should check out the WIDOW KILLER and THE BEAST and 3 others from American Dream Custom Paint. Much cheaper and better options. Trust me, they spray awesome, diff size tip kits for them, Patented X cut nozzle similar to Iwata.

It's been 2 years since this video , has there been any issues using clear as primer ? might be helpful on blend panels with limited space to blend .

A lot of people use it intercoat for that. This piece had limited sun exposure but the overall finish is still fantastic.

Nice Paint style and technique my dude! The color seemed to match better after clear coating to me. It seemed to have a similar darker color shift on the passenger side fender as well. Saved by the flip flop paint. LOL

Did you like or dislike the black widow? Does it come with a 1.4 or just a 1.3? What was you opinion of the fan and the whole gun ? Is it worth 200 dollars?

We just sprayed some candy red with this same gun with silver metallic base and even silver micro flake with intercoat. NO ISSUES! WTF are you doing wrong??!? Bad gun maybe?
@KarKraftsman Жыл бұрын
I think it's more personal preference when it comes to base coat particularly. Outside the booth it looked fine, with polarized glasses you see some shadowing. I like the gun overall but for base I'd use something else.

Very different thing, but I'm repainting a guitar with spray cans. Was looking great until I sprayed the clear flat on it, and the can spit out some larger drops here and there onto the guitar body, which I didn't realize until after I'd sprayed the whole coat. There are a dozen or so of the larger drops on the finish, each a few millimeters in diameter. Will this process work for that kind of thing too? Thanks.

Spray can clear lays a lot thinner and is more susceptible to chemicals and staining. I would not recommend cab clear and buffing but it can be done. Sand with 2000 to 3000 and you can hand buff it from there. Next time for the clear coat I'd try and take it to a professional car painting place for them to apply. Much more durable and easily buffable.
@MikiaHeard Жыл бұрын
This was helpful (Thank you). What did you spray to apply the shiny clear coating (around the 9:52 mark)? I want to repair a taillight scratch using your techniques. I do not have a sprayer. Can I apply by hand to get the shiny effect?
@KarKraftsman Жыл бұрын
You can also polish the plastic instead of painting it with clear coat. The steps for polishing plastic is the same with polishing everything; wet sand starting with 1000 grit for hard scratches and progress to 1200 1500 2000 and 3000. To polish use regular buffing compounds and end it with a headlight or plastic polishing compound.

I'm getting ready to spray a 1972 442 and haven't painted in a couple decades. I'm going to paint Duracryl Viking Blue metallic lacquer and final coats of Duracryl High Performance lacquer. I wonder how lacquer will spray with either a HTLV or HTE spray gun. Anyone with experience. Enjoyed the video......

Good video, appreciate you showing your errors. I wondered when you were going to remove the air valve for cleaning, then saw it pop out when you blew air into the inlet. You didn’t seem to notice at first. I just bought that gun and may have learned the hard way there is a right and wrong way to install the air valve. I tightened the fluid nozzle (with the valve not properly seated) and now worry about how well it will work (my bad). It is not a Murphy proofed design and there are no markings on the air valve to designate up from down. Thanks for the tip about wearing gloves while sanding. Please use your influence to get HF to sell a repair kit for the Black Widow.

.. paint a section at a time. This is what i plan todo.. so i can have the whole car really wet when im done. The problem ive had was overspray dulling the previous sections. So ive planned to do it sections and let them fully dry for days even, b4 i do the next lol. Amateur-ish, i know.. but im sure i can get a really wet paint in the end.

I just picked up the Black Widow to give it a try. I usually use my Devilbiss Pro Lite but trying this Black Widow for clear coat. I seem to be getting heavy orange peel spraying at 30PSI. Did you say you sprayed this car at 35 PSI? Any feedback is appreciated. Great video.
