10-12 years ago a friend offered to make a very large sign to attach to the front of my house. I told him it should say “We All Live Downstream”. This song made me weep. Thank. you for writing it.

I miss his dark music, 'I See A Darkness' was such an incredible album, as was 'Ease Down the Road' and 'Master and Everyone'. Since then I haven't found much to my taste.

Maybe check out his Superwolf albums with Matt Sweeney. I love the production and collaboration of the two musical icons.

Lyrics: "What's in the water? What's in the wind? The weather is wilder than it's ever been The ocean's still blue, but it ain't what it seems It's time to remember that we all live downstream What's gonna happen? What will you think? When it's not so easy to get you a drink The water is changing, the well's going dry It surely might kill us in the sweet by and by You sleepwalk for centuries and don't look around At the progress of man, determined and bound We live in the ruins of another life's dream Oh, but nobody told us that we all live downstream There's an island adrift out in the sea It's being made special by you and by me Nothing can live there, nothing can be We're learning the hard way that we all live downstream You sleepwalk for centuries and you don't look around At the progress of man, determined and bound We live in the ruins of another life's dream Oh, and we should have known that we all live downstream."

John Anderson is a great singer; he has a rich voice filled with character, and his phrasing is impeccable. He's been a favorite of mine since I first heard him in the early 80s, in songs such as "I'm Just an Old Chunk of Coal" and "I Just Came Home to Count the Memories." It is a gift to hear him in this song.

John Anderson is a Country Music Legend. Bonnie Prince Billy even has a genre to sing in or 'grass to graze on' because of Artists like him. Sounds great here. Sorry if it doesn't fill your 'Indie-Rock expectations'. For what it's worth Will Oldham has one of the creakiest/weakest/yelpiest voices around - I love him but he needed Indie-Rock's 'permissiveness' to even have a career singing.

Were you at that last show in Buffalo he did a while back with Bitchin' Bajas? He did a solo acoustic set to open and there was a thunderstorm outside. It was pretty magical.
