Hey man this bass tone is amazing!! I know im late to the party here but I've been trying to duplicate this bass tone but im having a hard time getting theeq settings right any chance you can go in more detail on the eq cuts and boosts?
@WillMaskellTaylor3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, and of course! Firstly make sure your signal is strong enough going into your interface, then setup the compressor with the settings in the video. The only thing you will probably have to adjust is the threshold and output, as your signal will be different to mine. The compressor is there to catch the peaks in the signal and also get the bass pumping more than anything, you don't need loads of gain reduction. Getting these parts right will effect the overall tone a fair bit as the eq is last in the chain. Regarding the EQ, my exact settings on Ableton's EQ 8 are these. Low pass filter at 55.8Hz with Q at 3.23. High shelf at 88.2Hz -5.58 db Q at 0.71. It is important to use the low pass and high shelf settings on those frequencies, if you're unsure what they are, look up eq shelf types and there are some pics showing what each symbol does on a digital eq plugin. The next are just regular boosts/cuts. Boost 1.5 kHz by 0.37db Q at 0.71, then boost 2.45 kHz by 9db Q at 0.72. I hope that helps, let me know if you are still struggling, and if so, what DAW/EQ plugin you are using. :)

Also bear in mind, your bass's tone may differ to mine due to pickups and strings etc, and also playing style

0:44 Troops of Doom was first released in Morbid Visions (1886) and 4:16 Under Siege (Regnum Irae) is actually from Arise (1991). Nice song picking by the way, Sepultura rules!

The song 'Troops of Doom' was recorded on Sepultura's second album. This album was called 'Morbid Visions.' But it was re-recorded on the album called 'Schizophrenia.' And the version they play to this day is the one from the album 'Schizophrenia,' not the one from the album 'Morbid Visions.

It actually makes more sense to use an EQ than an IR, because the Sansamp (emulated by BOD) is meant to emulate both an amp and a cab. Still, use whatever fits the song! BTW nice video!
@WillMaskellTaylor4 жыл бұрын
Good point! I know a few Sansamps on the market, specifically the vt series have a cab simulation switch so you can choose how to use it, in this case with the BOD however, I think it sounds better with some tone shaping from a cab Sim or eq. But as you say, whatever fits the song 😁. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you liked the video!
