If you want to select all of the face of an object, just press “a” or “ctrl a”.

the "raytrace refraction" setting isnt showing up for me

That's probably because you're in a different version of blender. If you're in an older one, the button is probably just "refgraction". If you're in the most recent version of the program, you may have to look into it on your own. I haven't updated yet since they made some massive changes to how evee renders, so I don't know how things work in that version. Hope this helps in some way :)
