This is awesome! So glad I found your channel. I have a question, I want to divide my text/word into three portions so I can cut it on my glowforge aura. Is this possible on the ipad? I am fairly new and have not been able to find a way to do this. Can you help with this?

Absolutely! Just be very careful with making sure the BACK side of your jig isn't dirty or have any char that might rub off on unsealed paints or chalk paints.

Ohh I didn’t know you can just copy and paste into LB. That’s awesome. So the letters are not automatically welded to eachother? IDK why I have such a hard time wrapping my head around what a stroke it. I don’t like is. 🤣 Thank you for the tutorial! I’m starting to get more comfortable with AI finally!
@LoBoDesignsАй бұрын
You're correct, ma'am! 😎 In LB, the text welds itself, but in AI, you have to Unite it as part of the design process. The copy and paste ability is one of the greatest things ever! Just make sure you have your DPI in LB set to 72 and not to 96. It's in the File Settings screen!

Hi Heather, it's very hard to engrave acrylic that deep and get clean results. I only engrave deep when making acrylic stamps, in that case I engrave with normal focus the 1st pass and defocus the 2nd pass to clean up any remaining lines. Those visual lines are normally related to the engraving lines overlapping. I don't believe is possible to engrave that deep at 400 DPI without line overlap... My 2 cents are, use minimum power that way you get the thinnest engraved line/dot and play with DPI/LPI to find the best results, also like you I defocus 2mm (Pros: Better quality. Cons: Longer engraving time because of Higher DPI) Remember Higher Power and/or Defocus will engrave thicker lines, so you will need to decrease the DPI/LPI (Pros: Faster engravings. Cons: Lower quality) Some people also uses a fine layer of dishwasher and get good results, didn't try this because I'm very happy with my results. My best engraving machine is the k40 because the 35w tube have a really thin laser beam and in low power can engrave at 500 DPI easily, my 100w at minimum power I engrave only at 250 DPI or lower. Take my tips with a grain of salt, every machine is different. Only trial and error will get you to a quality you're happy with. This is my job for +10 years ☺ Best of Luck with your channel, you got a new subscriber. Greetings from Portugal.

This is not sending to the laser!! This is simply pressing play. Wasted my time trying to learn to. "send" to the laser
@LoBoDesigns2 ай бұрын
Correct, sir. As mentioned in the video, this is the way I send my files to the laser. I don't find the need to do a 180° at my desk and use the controller keypad on the laser instead. This way is much easier for me and others who have the same setup. Good thing there are multiple ways to accomplish the same end result with our machines! Aeon Laser USA has a bunch of tutorials in their Laser 101 training that will walk you through the steps to send your files to the controller first. 😎

hey i love the tutorial however, i want to make keychain offsets of an image which is image traced, because if we offset it directly the small pixels made by the image trace options shatter and makes a mess. so is there any way i can make outlines for that it would be helpfull💖

Very helpful video. I have a glowforge aura so it only cuts 12". Do you have a video that shows how to cut font in 2 pieces so it's small enough to print? I hope that makes sense. What I'm trying to cut is a continuous 18" and i need to cut it in half to use the laser.

Does your computer have to be in the same room as your laser? Or can you use a USB to do designs?
@LoBoDesigns2 ай бұрын
It doesn't have to be in the same room. Mine is in my workshop next to my desk, but there are a lot of customers who have their computer in another room. There is a WiFi connection built into the machine as well, if needed, but I prefer using the USB connection!

Hi. I have been working with a Chinese laser for the past 7 years and using coreldraw for my designs since it has a macro that sends my graphics directly to the laser without the need to convert it to SVG format. Lately i decided to switch to illustrator since it has more tools. I stumbled upon your youtube channel after searching for a tutorial and i love it!!! you are great and so clear in your tutorials.

What you are showing will not result in the laser cutting a dashed line. Instead, it will cut what looks like a row of very small rectangles. This is because when you expanded the dashed line, it turned it into the outline of the shape that it formed on the screen. When you go to cut this in the laser, it is going to cut a very small rectangle in every spot where it should be cutting a straight dash. This will not work for creating a proper perforated line.
@LoBoDesigns3 ай бұрын
Correct! This tutorial is specifically showing how to expand the design so the laser recognizes the outline of each rectangle, whether it be for engraving or cutting. Not to be used for perforation cuts, solely for design elements or cut paths.

Would the smooth tool be better for smoothing out the lines?
@LoBoDesigns4 ай бұрын
The Smooth tool can help with this sometimes, but you'll lose some of the fine details. For this project, I like the look of the font as-is so smoothing it out would change the look, but it's definitely a solid tool when it's needed!
