Sounds like someone has been reading 'holistic management'! Dr Nichols is brilliant, no doubt about it, but also please do go back and read Savory's book, as what it's really about is the "new framework for decision making"...

It's funny that he was scaremongering about 4 degrees temperature increase. "They have a model that says it will outgas some carbon". Well, adding 4 degrees to South Dakota weather will give you Kansas temperatures or thereabout. It's not exactly a mystery or a disaster. It's an improvement.

Wonder how long it will take for the info about Round up to disseminate - people know it's a chelator and it blocks the uptake of minerals by plants (so the minerals aren't in the plant or fruits), and here's yet another "settled" lawsuit where its proven in court that its cancerous. This lawsuit is supposed to order Bayer/monsanto to cease saying that it's "safe for the environment and safe for people and animals". Its time to work on other solutions, and pour-ons are another thing to take out of the mix.

Absolutely correct. Farming is soil knowledge. What is it, what makes it work, what keeps it healthy, why doesn't it need to take breaks, what can I do to help? Start that journey to ensure the success of your operation. Got clay?, turn it into black loam (Dr. Elaine Ingham) Got sand, same answer. Get microscopic life on every square inch and watch it support growth which turn into dollars. It may not be too late to start but when you do become a little bit obsessional, become passionate about not your crops/meat/income but your soils capacity to support you.

@26:21 forests are as ill-managed as crops have previously been (and mostly still are.) Controlled fires are actually the answer to a lot of their issues. Fire is completely endemic and natural in a forest. Additionally, forestry is still largely monocropping. With controlled burns, diversity, and proper management, forestry should be able to meet or even exceed regenerative farms in carbon sequestration. Basically, we need a regenerative forestry movement as well.

In your food web, the nematodes after fungi and bacteria should be labeled as fungi and bacteria eaters (not root eaters).

I've seen some of the GMO-hybrid corn as low as 3% protein. Meanwhile, conventionally tillage grown Ried's Yellow Dent at 9% and red/blue flint corn as high as 14%. I wonder if Brandt tried Bloody Butcher/Blue Hopi if he could boost it higher yet.

Nice presentation From a nutrient management standpoint you should be banning fertilizer period the amount that we have been able to reduce inputs by going from recommended rates of broadcast to banding and our own trials period we have eliminated dapper map from our strip till and potassium and AMS is less than 50% of recommended With tools like The Haney test and sap testing we can now really come up with a proper nutrient Management program

From my understanding, adding sugar as mentioned, will increase the bacteria population, when the talk was about increasing fungal dominated soils. I use molasses to feed the plant leaf life though😅

Why would Dave be looking into compost tea when he says he does not use biological if a field has had cover crop usage for 2 years, and since he has been cover-cropping for many years? Unless he is acquiring new ground on regular basis.
