Excellent track! It deserves to be mixed louder and given a better ending. Fun to jam to!

When I was a kid, say 60 years ago, Guitar Player magazine once a month was pretty much all we had. Now excellent backing tracks like this are on our Smartphones. Welcome to the future! - And thank you!

Scales that can go over an A7 chord: D major/A mixolydian mode A half/whole diminished scale E jazz minor B flat jazz minor or Dorian mode G dorian mode D flat Dorian mode This substitutions were taken from "Quantum Guitar" video by Pat Martino (RIP). Joe Pass said he viewed chord changes as the V dom7. In other words, a Em7b5, A7#5, D min change can be viewed strictly from the A7. If you try to play a scale over each chord, you will go crazy. Just focus on the A7. These substitutions give you some outside notes to make your solos sound more interesting. This really helped me. I hope it helps you. 🙂

I’m just getting into Am on mandolin. I was going from Am to E 7th (ish?) and then after typing this, went back and forth between Am and E major (ish?) and . . . uh . . . well . . . yep. I like how long this track is, it gives one time to “mess about” and not have to keep refreshing or rewinding (antiquated term from analogue tape days). I still make reference mixes using Hi-Fi VHS video tapes. Just make sure you’ve got some kind of video feeding into the tape machine so the audio has those tracking blips to synchronize to. Up to 6 hours of interrupted disasters. Great for long drives.
