Great memories. TV series were better and scripts superb. No swearing. No need to show sex. Even the clothing and make up was the best. Ahead of time with prejudice, abortion, discrimination with races. The topics shared ahead of their times brought attention then to the future.

I loved the film for its camp value, but that horribly LOUD SCORE was unbearable. Constantly playing a full string orchestra over dialogue is not good film making.

I lived in that area from 1972 to 1979 and I go back regularly to visit in the last time was in 2023, since 1957. It has changed very little other than there recently adding Walmarts and what have you

I love this series. I'd remember I 've seen this in Bangkok my home town on television about 1967 (The series was on air in America some years before 1964 may be but it was on air in Thailand a few years later) it's a soap ofcourse but in the same times it had build Ryan O'neal, Mea Faroh. And I love the enviroment, beautiful location and land scape even it's black and white those day. I still miss it today.❤❤❤

This was such a GREAT TV SERIES. The very first night time soap. It started out one night a week, and as popularity and ratings grew, it was 2 nights a week and then finally 3 nights a week. What an epic run. The music score from the movie was redone for the TV SERIES. it was beautiful . I sure do miss shows like that today.

This movie was a learning experience when I was growing up. It was strange not to see a black person as a maid or janitor. Even all the poor people were white. Even the ghetto was white. Til this day, Peyton Place is one of my favorite stories.

A series I first watched in 1964, those locations and street scenes were rather striking, I mesmerised by Mia Farrow and Barbara Parkin’s acting, such a nice thing seeing these scenes again, if only to go back to 1964 again.

This is absolute epic beauty, and it makes me sad too. My husband and I were seriously going to move from Virginia to Maine, but things didn't work out. We have a nice home, but a piece of our heart went with the plans and dreams of Maine. Maybe when we get to heaven we will see the likes. Thanks for such a lovely reminder of a great old movie and allowing us to visit a fond memory.

Agree with the rest of you: This is a lovely video. Franz Waxman's score for 1957's PEYTON PLACE is in a league with Johnny Green's score for RAINTREE COUNTY (1957), Dmitri Tiomkin's for GIANT (1956), and Alfred Newman's for ANASTASIA (1956). Those of you who have yet to see PEYTON PLACE, watch for the beautiful and unforgettable conclusion, with children on bicycles, Alison's final words, and a reprise of the steeple bell fanfare that opens the movie.

Camden,ME does have more traffic than it did in the late 50’s when the movie was filmed. But, the charm and authenticity remains. Super photography.
