I enjoyed your videos Eddy. I'm 70 and still love cycle touring as well. My father is 95 and he rides all summer to keep in shape for downhill skiing in the winter. He bought a new gravel bike at 94 so with the right frame of mind and lots of dedication to fitness it can be done.

What strikes me the most about your travels is how peaceful everything is. Sadly, the States are becoming more aggressive, noisy and stressful. Like the priest said, love is everything. We are losing that love 😢
@65andbackonthebikeАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I'm not so sure about 'losing that love'. There's just no way that you can lose what you inherently are. But you can lose focus on it all right by too much distraction, which is something certain dark powers are very good at creating, exactly for the purpose of giving us the illusion that there is no love anymore and only an evil world. This happens everywhere, not only in the States. The thing to do is to keep focusing on love and peace, and that's exactly what I'm trying to convey in my films. Thank you for watching. Next film coming out soon... 🙏

Hello … what wisdom is encapsulated here. Approaching 67 and starting my evolution from full time work to retirement it is good to be reminded of simplicity. 10 years ago I rode from John O Groats to Lands End with 600 others and loved it. Currently I am working 1 or 2 days a week in horticulture and it is my happy place. Keen to include more longer rides in my pilgrimage through life. Thanks for the inspiration !

How do you fund your bike trips? Also, what’re you using for route planning, navigation, maps?
@65andbackonthebike3 ай бұрын
If the only thing one has to spend money on is the food from the grocery store, you can't really talk about 'funding', can you? 😊 For advance route planning I have a look at some websites that show greenways and bike itineraries, and once on the road I only use good old paper maps and my innate sense of orientation. Works perfectly.

Exactly. The feeling of nomadic cycling. I do it since 17 years. Now I am 63. Always in summer holidays with my bike and tent on my way. Love it and it gives me so much energy for the next year of working. I've done part of the routes, where you were cycling on this trip. La meuse Maastricht to Namur, eurovelo 5. It's really all this, you discriped. The wisdom of bicycle travelling. Simplicity and freedom. Not planing to much.

Hi Eddy, Thanks for taking the time to share your pilgrim experience with me and so many others. You are an amazing story teller and I really enjoyed both your 65 and 66 videos. I’m 67 and about 35 years ago I was addicted as a cyclist but I did weekend centuries and my daily ride after work was 35 miles. Then I got a mortgage and family and cycling was forgotten. I just retired last January 2024 and I’m trying to get back on the bike. I have 100 lbs. to lose and my legs are weak but I am riding trainer and watching cycling videos. After I have dropped about 50 lbs. I will start riding again and I really look forward to that. You really are an inspiration and you are helping me with achieving my goals. Keep making videos and posting them on KZbin for your fans like me. Also I worry you don’t wear a helmet, Your brief riding partner Flaviu wore a helmet, I worry for you. Be safe!! And see you on your next video. Tom

Come to South East Asia for your cycling. 1. You cross through vastly different countries with different cultures (temples, mosques, etc) and sceneries (waterfalls, rice fields, beaches, mountains scenery, etc. 2. You probably do not need a tent or self cooking. 3. There are street food sold all over in each countries (hawker’s food, night markets, etc) 4. You can stay at cheap loggings or at temples (foc) especially in Thailand. 5. People are friendly and places are safe generally. 6. Start from Singapore to Malaysia, Thailand, Laos…and beyond. One can travel within 1 to 3 hrs by plane between these countries. 7. Welcome to SEA 🙏

From Denmark: Hello to all biking and triking loving people. I am 80 years old and still long distance Biking/Triking. I was packing for my 2024 Triking trip and wanted some inspiration about gear to take along, thus I stumbled over your wonderful video. Thx for sharing. Let it be a motivating incentive for as many people as possible, who would like to enjoy freedom, fresh air, nature and, in the process, improve their health/life style even when above 80. Until 4 years ago, I was long haul touring with my KOGA bike (Ortlieb handlebar & front loaders/back loaders/36 L Rack bag + and a ZIFLEX Monowheel Trailer with 100 L bag). Then I shifted to an ICE SPRINT FS Trike with 47 mm Schwalbe tires + the faithful ZIFLEX Trailer to carry tent-tarp-hammock-chair-taburet-spare parts, etc. NO EL ASSIST. Circuit Last summer: Triking Ebeltoft/Jutlant/DK-Frederikshavn-Ferry to Gothenburg (Sweden)-Triking Gothenburg-Stockholm-Ferry to Turku (Finland)-Triking to Helsinki-Ferry back to Stockholm-Triking to Nynaeshamn-Ferry to Visby (Gotland Island-East Coast of Sweden)-Ferry Visby to Oskarshamn (East Coast of Sweden)-Triking to Ystad (South Sweden)-Ferry to the Danish Island of Bornholm-Ferry to Koege (Danish East Coast)-Triking South Denmark Islands with a couple of Ferry crossing to the Island of Aeroe (26 km from Lubeck/Germany)-Back to Ebeltoft/DK. Seems age is ... just a number, if you live a healthy life and still want to enjoy life. Go for it, exercice, you can do it. Peace🙏

What a great video! Soon to be 67 and I love biking, hiking and long distance swimming. Such a simple and beautiful journey. As I've gotten older, I love the slow pace of riding and taking the time enjoy all that it has to offer.I biked Germany, Austria and Switzerland last September and the things I remember most was the interactions with people a long the way. Trying to buy grapes and apples from different farmers who would not take my money but did take my handshake. Seeing people in their 80's riding E-bikes with big smiles on their faces saying hello as they pass me by. Please post more videos as you go. You have a gift that other people enjoy! God Bless from Northern California USA

Ha, so now you have seen both my films. Nice ! Thank you so much for your encouraging comment ! Yes, slow is beautiful, isn't it?
