Awesome build! I just found this video while researching these trucks, I've been thinking of getting one as maybe a less expensive way to get into a square body. Seems like there's a lot of potential with them. I'm going to check out your other videos to hopefully learn more.

Beautiful. The Canadian versions used a trussed 44 instead of a 60. Odd.

How much time are you spending tightening belts? I switched mine to 12 volts with only one alternator, and it’s still a lot of work to keep that one tight.

I got a 21k mile 686 desert carc'd 1008 on 38" Patagonias and 5" lift w PSC and 1.5" wheelbase forward. Tons of inspiration here! I dig the Humvee bucket/jump and cable shifter. I want to go manual valvebody 700R4 on mine to stay analog bc I had great reliability w manual 700r from the old Camaro days and they came in the 6.2 burbs that people turbo'd. Take 5 min with some tire shine silicone on those door panels and they will look deep dark red again... Kept me from spending $200 on new panels!

Which racor filter and assembly are you using. I have an 1984 k20 6.2. I keep a solar panel plugged in to keep my batteries charged as it does not get driven a lot. I agree with fuel economy. Not the fastest but it gets me where I'm going. Used to drive these and the Blazer when I was stationed in Germany from 88-90

I thought the m10028 came with front lockers?
@glockfan Жыл бұрын
They come with a Trac Lok Dana 60. Not terrible but certainly not as good as the ARB air locker. I have the Detroit locker in the rear and would love to switch it over to an air locker as well. It would probably be easier on my tires.

Did you change out the whole steering column? Or just the steering wheel? If so how much fab did it take to change over?

Just the steering wheel. It was quite simple actually. Just remove the nut and borrow a steering wheel puller from Autozone or Oreiley’s.

Awesome !! How many Gallons is your tank? And where did you get your york from?
@glockfan3 жыл бұрын
I bought the converted York 210 from eBay. The air tank is from an MRAP and I believe it is 9 gallons. This system performs as well or better than most other options. It wasn’t cheap in the long run with all the additional fittings, etc. required for the installation but I’m glad I have it.
@dracosirccpent3 жыл бұрын
Where can i go find that for my cucv M1028 please sir ?
@glockfan3 жыл бұрын
The converted York 210 compressor is widely available on eBay. There is only one place to get the bracket to hold the compressor in place as far as I know. It was custom made for my application by a local fabricator. I can see if they would make another one. I probably have $1100 in the whole onboard air system but it’s worth every cent.

Did I see a gap between the front spring driver-side and the axle
@893R6-w8t2 жыл бұрын
That's a gap between the axle tube and the spring perch which is normal. But that spring looks twisted or something, maybe just the camera lens playing tricks.

What adapter did you use for the 4l80e? Do you have the NP 205 trans case? Was installing the transmission pretty much bolt on or was there modifications required?
@glockfan3 жыл бұрын
I decided to go with an NP203 range box coupled to my NP205 transfer case. This effectively gives me 4:1 low range and it’s needed here in Utah. The 203/205 “doubler” kit was purchased from Offroad Design in Colorado.

So found a set of dually hubs and I'm in the process of installing new bearings, races and seals. Just looking at them, seems like it would be the equivalent of a 5 inch spacer.
@glockfan3 жыл бұрын
They are closer to 3” spacers
@thomasnaranjo3663 жыл бұрын
Why not 2in spacers in the front instead of the dually hubs. I have the same tires and rims combo should I get the dually hubs for the front.
@glockfan3 жыл бұрын
Dually hubs are absolutely the right way to run HMMWV wheels on the front axle of these trucks. If you are considering using cheap Chinese aluminum spacers on your truck, update your life insurance policy. I actually wheel my truck pretty hard now and really rely on the mighty Dana 60 to not fail me. Spacers on the steer axle are not something that I’m willing to do.
@thomasnaranjo3663 жыл бұрын
@@glockfan I have seen some American-made steel wheel spacers out there but they're quite expensive. I try not to buy Chinese if I don't have to.

How does it keep up when using air tools
@glockfan4 жыл бұрын
The tools never slow down. I do idle up the truck if I’m inflating tires but even at idle every task can be done. This is a 10+ CFM pump at 100 psi when the engine is idled up.
