@dukeboy-66456 жыл бұрын
Murfpack I don't recall, just something I had laying around. An 8' 2x4 would work just fine too. Could get by with a bit shorter too probably. A pipe or anything that will hold up. The pvc flexed quite a bit. Keep it long enough that it isn't grinding on your knuckles.

Guys I don't know what we are doing different than you are but we have used this mixer to clean and then tumble 145,000 pieces of 5.56 brass. The only modifications we have made were swapping out the rubber seal for silicon and metal augers for PVC. If it is a capacity issue we run a 5 gallon bucket of brass at a time.

CCI primers are shipped in proper orientation so that you can pick them up in to the primer tube directly from the CCI sleeve. Don't even need to flip them on a primer tray. I've seen several videos now where guys double flip cci primers when they could've just plucked them up with their tube. No idea why.
@dukeboy-66458 жыл бұрын
Not always, as in this case. they are CCI primers and not all corectly oriented. Thanks for watching though, I made this video for a friend, he wanted to see what a flip tray was. I use a RF-100 to load primers.
@floorpizza80748 жыл бұрын
yup, but the few that are upside down in the cci package can be left behind while the others are plucked by the primer tube, then flipped once onto a tray. But yeah... auto primer tube loaders are the way to go. I use the Frankford Arsenal one.
@pc_junkie12868 жыл бұрын
floorpizza Almost every single box of CCI primers I got have had some flipped primers...i use cci sp,sr, and lr primers. Never used their lp. I've used Winchester too. But I've never seen a flipped Winchester primer and I only have ever used wlp.

looks very good but what brass are you starting with and what have you done to the brass before starting and what dies have you got in the press. i have made mine out of 221 fireball but this looks easier.
@dukeboy-66458 жыл бұрын
We start with 5.56. We deprime, swage the primer pocket, and form them with a 4 die set, some of the. processing is done on one press, then moved to another to size and trim them, then full length size with a neck sizing die for neck tension. We make 221 and 17 fireball, 20 Vartarg, and 17 Remington. And some 300 blackout. Check out our site. www.HighPlainsBrass.com
@gscotty311 Жыл бұрын
@@dukeboy-6645 What exactly are the 4 dies? Form or FL? Just starting to research this and trying to understand what path to take if I decide to dive in. I have an uncle that can't find any cheap brass and he asked if I could help. I don't know if I could get away with basic FL size dies from Lee or RCBS or not.
@dukeboy-6645 Жыл бұрын
@@gscotty311 it's 3 forming dies and a full length trim die. We start with cases we trim to basically a 300 blackout. That would be the easiest to start with.

@@dukeboy-6645 Im not familiar with forming dies. I've successfully converted 223 to 300BLK but I can see this is much more technical. I don't wanna buy forming dies for a caliber don't even have. so im really wanting to upgrade to this from the 550b. is this thing easy to set up because it looks intimidating.
@dukeboy-664510 жыл бұрын
Unless you are loading lots and I mean lots of military crimped brass. I wouldn't go with a 1050. I would go with a 650. The big advantage of a 1050 is the built in swager. I have 2 1050 and 2 650 presses. The 650 will load just as fast and its way cheaper for caliber conversions. The 1050 toolheads alone are 200. They are not terribly difficult to set up or adjust or even keep running. If you can run a 550 you can run either of the others just fine.
@chriskelly50910 жыл бұрын
I don't shoot a lot of 556 but u think buying the swage station that Dillon sells would be a good thing to buy?
@dukeboy-664510 жыл бұрын
Unless you are loading military brass with a crimped primer pocket there is no need to own the dillon super swage 600 or a super 1050.

I do reload a lot of .223 I was going to get the 1050 for my high volums of 9mm and .223 I really like the brass feeder feature. would it be cheaper to just get the 650?
@dukeboy-664510 жыл бұрын
650 is the way to go unless you have to swage thousands of pieces at a time. Everything about a 1050 is more money. Like 1700 bucks to start with. The 650 Case feeder is the exact same thing that is on a 1050.

It works ok, not nearly as well as the swager on a 1050. We have stopped using the autodrive 650's and are now using 1050s, 650s are cant handle that kind of volume and abuse. we were breaking a lot of parts
My bolt is removed with a bottom bolt release whereas yours is a top bolt release. When your bolt is fully rearward, what is the distance between the face of the bolt and the base of the round in the magazine? Thanks for your feedback.
@dukeboy-664510 жыл бұрын
I had to have the part of my bolt machined that hits the bolt stop, so that the bolt would move far enough rearward to grab the cases out of the magazine. Otherwise I would have to push the cases forward in the magazine by hand. I have before and after picture of what i'm talking about, if you would like to see them.
What model is your savage mate? I have just fitted the same chassis to my Savage 10 Predator Hunter Max 1 Camo and I am having feeding problems. The bolt in the fully rear position sits forward of the base of the round in the magazine.
@dukeboy-664510 жыл бұрын
It's a model 12 FVSS. should be the same as a model 10 I think, but i think there are two different bolt patterns. I would call Kyle at XLR if you have questions.
